Hi Stampers!
My craft room is well stocked with stamps, dies, cardstock, ink pads, markers, embellishments, and every tool imaginable! I enjoy using all of it, but sometimes I just want to put ink on paper! Today’s card is a sample of using only stamps, ink, and cardstock ... and blending brushes.
I used the WHALE DONE stamp set to create an under the sea scene for the card front, and for a panel for the inside of the card.
WHALE DONE
(Annual Catalog pg. 83)
SUPPLIES NEEDED TO CREATE THIS CARD:
* Pool Party card base - 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* 2 pieces of Calypso Coral cardstock cut at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
* 2 pieces of Basic White cardstock cut at 5” x 3 3/5”
* Blending Brushes
* Inks colors of your choice (I used Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand, Soft Sea Foam, and Flirty Flamingo.
TO ASSEMBLE THE CARD:
* Create the sea floor. Using Sahara Sand ink and a blending brush, apply ink along the bottom of one of the pieces of Basic White cardstock. (The Calypso Coral cardstock is under the Basic White Cardstock to differentiate it from the background for this photo.)
* Use the “bubble” stamp from the stamp set or use a “sand” stamp from another set (I used a stamp from Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set) and the Sahara Sand ink to add a bit of texture and some depth to the sea floor.
* Use the coral stamp and Calypso Coral and Flirty Flamingo inks to add coral to the sea floor. Before stamping the Calypso Coral, stamp off first. Stamp the coral once on the cardstock, then move the stamp over a tad and stamp again. Stamp the coral as many times as you wish.
* Next use the Soft Sea Foam ink and the seaweed stamp. To make the seaweed taller stamp, reink the stamp, and stamp it again at an angle near the top of the previously stamped image. Add as much seaweed as you like.
* Use Calypso Coral ink and the school of fish stamp to add fish to the card panel.
* Finally, use a blending brush and Pool Party ink to create the ocean water. Gently rub the brush over the cardstock in a circular motion. It is okay to have areas darker or lighter than other areas. Adhere the card front to one of the Calypso Coral pieces of cardstock.
* Create the inside of the card in a similar manner as the card front, and stamp the sentiment. Also, stamp Happy Birthday on the card front. I used the Happy Birthday from the Party Puffins stamp set.
* I made this card using two other color combinations; Polished Pink with Just Jade and Soft Sea Foam with Calypso Coral.
I hope you give “making a scene” a try! That’s all for today. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
