CREATING GRADUATION CARDS WITHOUT A GRADUATION STAMP SET

 Hi Stampers!

It’s graduation season! Whether it’s a college, high school, middle school, kindergarten, or preschool graduation, the occasion calls for a card! What if you do not have a graduation themed stamp set? No problem! Take a look through the stamps and other supplies you have on hand. Chances are you have images, sentiments, cardstock, and other supplies that will be perfect for creating graduation cards. Let’s look at some sample cards I created:

SUPPLIES FOR LADYBUG CARD
* Hello Ladybug stamp set
* Hydrangea Haven stamp set (inside sentiment)
* Build a Ladybug punch cut 1 body and 2 sets of wings - one from cardstock and one from vellum
* Medium Daisy punch
* Sweet Sorbet card base 8 1/2” x 5 1/2 scored and folded 4 1/4”
* Designer Series Paper (DSP) - Tea Boutique - 5 1/4” x 4” plus a piece that is 4” x 3/4” (inside card)
* Parakeet Party cardstock - 3 1/4” x 4 1/2” for frame - die cut with Stitched Rectangles Dies 4 5/8” x 3” and to cut out center die that measures 1 1/2” x 2 7/8”, emboss with Time Worn Type Embossing Folder
* Basic White cardstock - 5 1/4” x 4” for inside card
* Cardstock scraps - Basic White, Garden Green, Basic Black, Sweet Sorbet, Vellum
* Inks -  Garden Green, Daffodil Delight, Memento Tuxedo Black
* Iridescent Pearls - 2
* Sponge dauber to apply Daffodil Delight ink to flower centers
* Adhesive, glue dots, dimensionals 

+ Punch 6 Daisy shapes, three for each flower; adhere together with glue dots.
+ Punch two sets of ladybug wings from the Garden Green cardstock - these will be the leaves for the flowers. Use a stylus or bone folder to add lines down the center of the “leaves.”

A small adjustment to to the size of the card base allows for a pocket that serves as a gift card holder.

* Build a Sailboat punch
* Diorama Dies (about 4 1/2” x 3”)
* Night of Navy card base - 10 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folde at 2” and 4 1/4” - adhere the top and bottom edges of the 2” flap to the card base, this forms the “pocket” for the gift card.
* Night of Navy cardstock 5 1/4” x 4” - use Diorama die to cut window 
* Basic White cardstock cut 2 at 5 1/4” x 4” for stamping focal images and for inside card
* Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 2” -panel for pocket inside card
* Basic White cardstock - 2 1/4” x1 1/4” for sentiment banner and scrap for stamping and punching out sailboat pieces
* Inks - Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Starry Sky
* Linen thread- about 18 inches

* Tahitian Tide card base - 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 2 1/8” on each long end OR score at 2 1/8” and 6 3/8”
* 2022-2024 In Color 6”x 6” DSP - Tahitian Tide - 2 pieces cut at 2” x 5 3/8”
* For focal panel - cardstock Basic White 3 1/4” x 3 1/4”, Tahitian Tide 3” x 3” and a piece of Basic White for focal piece cut with Stylish Shapes Dies (square that measures 2 3/4” x 2 3/4”), Basic White for greeting cut with Stylish Shapes Dies (circle that measures 1 3/4” diameter), and scrap of Basic White to stamp and punch out whale
* Inks - Tahitian Tide, Basic Gray, Old Olive, Mango Melody, and Pool Party; Wink of Stella to add a bit of shine to the whale and fish

* Stitched With Whimsy Dies -  die that measures about 4 1/2” x 3 1/4” 
* Card base - Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes - Soft Sorbet
* Basic White cardstock 4 7/8” x 3 1/2” - center the Stitched With Whimsy die on this piece of cardstock, the die cuts out the stitching pattern only
* Scraps of Sweet Sorbet, Basic White, and Crushed Curry to use with punch for bird
* Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black, Gray Granite, Granny Apple Green, Early Espresso, and Balmy Blue
* Blending Brush - use with Balmy Blue to create “sky” on focal point
* Adhesive and dimensionals


FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS CARD


(This card might look familiar. I CASEd my own card!  It is a remake of a card I made a while back.)

Below is the card I created sometime back for a post about no layer cards. I simply changed the greeting.


FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS STAMP SET


SUPPLIES FOR FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS CARD

* Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set
* Seaside Seashells dies
* Seashells embossing folder
* Stitched Rectangle dies - (4” x 2 5/8”)
* Printer paper or other “thinner” paper - 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”; place Stitched Rectangle die in center of paper and run through die cut machine, this creates a frame that will act as a mask to create the focal area on he card front.
* Basic White (thick) card base - 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* Pearlescent Specialty Paper - 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”
* Small strip of Basic White cardstock for greeting (I used my trimmer to trim around the stamped greeting)
* Inks - Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink; Stampin’ Blends - Granny Apple Green (light & dark), Soft Sea Foam (light & dark)
* Blending Brushes - mask the card front, use low tack tape (washi tape, painter’s tape, etc) to hold mask in place, use the blending brushes to apply the Crumb Cake and Balmy Blue ink to form ocean or sky and sand
* Adhesive and dimensionals
+ Use the die on the Pearlescent paper, stamp the die cut image with coordinating stamps, use the Stampin’ Blends to color the plants, then emboss the entire piece. Finally, snip the desired images from the die cut

CAMPOLOGY CARD


(Greeting is from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set.)

This is another quick and easy card. The classic black and white color scheme is always a winner!

SUPPLIES FOR CAMPOLOGY CARD

* Campology stamp set
* Stylish Shapes dies (circles - 1 5/8” diameter, and 2 18” diameter
* Basic White cardstock - cut two at  5” x 3 3/4” - one for background panel and one for inside
* Scraps of Basic Black  and Basic White cardstock for greeting and greeting mat - cut with the Stylish Shapes dies
* Matte Black Dots -3 
* Adhesive and dimensionals

Although I made these cards with graduations in mind, they can be used for other occasions as well. For example, the Hello Ladybug and Friends Are Like Seashells cards can be for someone entering college or a new job. The Let’s Set Sail and Campology cards would work for someone starting college, another job, or moving to another home. The Whale Done card is perfect for congratulating kids for an everyday accomplishment, like good report cards or winning a competition. The Sweet Songbirds card would work for a pregnancy / new baby, or even an engagement. 

The next time you need a card for an occasion, but do not have a stamp set specific to that occasion, look through your stamps and chances are you will find stamps and sentiments that will work just fine.
