COUNT DOWN TO CHRISTMAS & FAMILY FUN - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

 Hi Stampers!

My husband and I have a Christmas tradition of using a Christmas countdown box composed of 25 small drawers. I fill each drawer with two candies (one for each of us) and a little card with an activity written on it. The activities include things like enjoying hot cocoa, watching a Christmas movie, reading Bible passages, playing Christmas trivia, etc. Our tradition will continue this year, but with a twist. Currently our son and his family are living with us while their new house is being built. Our countdown box drawers  just will not hold 6 pieces of candy. What to do? What to do? Being a crafty person it did not take long for me to solve the problem. I decided to make twenty-five cute boxes to fill with the candies and the little activity card. I plan to arrange these boxes on a table, and have my grandkids take turns picking a box. Here are 6 of the boxes- only 19 more to go!

These boxes are super easy to make. They measures 3” long by 2” wide and 2” tall. I used cardstock for the box and DSP for the box tops. These boxes are great way to use up DSP, ribbon, and scraps. For my boxes I used current and retired Stampin’ Up!®️ products.

For each box you will need the following:
* Cardstock cut at 6” x 7” scored at 2” and 4” along the 6” side, and scored at 2” and 5” side along the 7” side.
* DSP cut at 4 1/8” x 5 1/8” scored at 1” and 3” along the 4 1/8” side and scored at 1” and 4” along the 5 1/8” side.
* Bone folder to burnish score lines.
* Ribbon - about 14”
* Strong adhesive - Stampin’ Seal +, Tear & Tape, etc; glue dot to attach ribbon to bottom of box; dimensionals for punched / die cut images
* Punched / die cut images, gems, sequins, or other embellishments

BOX BOTTOM

After scoring the cardstock along the 6” side cut from the vertical score lines to the horizontal score line, and miter the corners on the flaps. Repeat this on the other end of the cardstock.

BOX TOP

After scoring the DSP along the 4 1/8” side cut along the vertical score lines to the horizontal score lines. Do the same on the opposite side of the DSP.

To assemble the box and the lid put adhesive on the right side of each mitered flap and attach to the end flap. Put a glue dot in the center of the bottom of the box. Attach ribbon here and tie in a bow on the top of the box.

Decorated your box as you like.
