Hi Stampers!
Today we will look at what I call an Inner Z Fold Card. This card is basically a window card with an inside Z fold panel. The focal image fills the “window” and is adhered to the inner Z fold panel. The card can be made in either portrait or landscape orientations. Let’s take a look at the sample cards:

SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
* Card Base - cardstock cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* Inner Z Fold Panel - Cardstock, patterned paper, or lighter weight cardstock cut at 8” x 5 1/4” score at 4” and 6”.
* Scrap of cardstock same color as card base or color of choice for frame (optional)
* Layer for Card Front - pattern paper cut at 5 1/4” x 4”
* White or other Cardstock for focal image - die cut or punch.
* Dies - Layering (Nesting) Dies
* Stamps, Inks, Coloring tools, Embellishments, Adhesives, etc to finish card
* Optional - cardstock panel for inside of card - size of choice 5” x 3 3/4” or smaller
ASSEMBLY
* Place adhesive on back side of layer for card front. Be sure to place adhesive toward the outside edges only.
* Place the smallest of the two layering dies in the center of the card base and tack in place with mint tape, washi tape, a sticky note or other low tack product. Run through die cut machine, keeping card flat and cut through only the card front. This creates the window.
* Die cut the shape from the white cardstock (or other cardstock) for focal image
* Create frame - place dies (smallest inside the largest) on scrap cardstock and die cut to form frame.
* Focal panel- stamp, color, etc
* Fold score lines on card base and on inner panel. The inner panel folds are valley fold on 4” score line and mountain fold on 6” score line.
* Adhere inside panel if desired.
* Place adhesive on back side of the 5 1/4” x 4” side of inner panel
* On front of card base adhere frame into place around window.
* Fold Z Fold panel in place, close card, place adhesive on section of inner Z Fold that spans half of window and put focal panel in place - it should fit right inside the window.
* Add embellishments to finish your card.
INNER Z FOLD CARD - LANDSCAPE VERSION
OUTSIDE OF CARD
INSIDE OF CARD
The only differences in the portrait version and the landscape version are the measurements for the card bases and the inner panels.
* Card Base - cut cardstock ay 11” x 4 1/4” , score and fold at 5 1/2”
* Inner Z Fold Panel - cut cardstock at 10 1/2” x 4” and score at 5 1/4” and 7 7/8”
TIPS
INNER PANEL
* To help the card fold as flat as possible try using either patterned paper or a lighter weight cardstock for the inner panel.
* This card is perfect for single sided patterned paper as only one side of the paper is seen.
* If you decide to use cardstock for the inner panel you can add a layer of patterned paper to the area where you will place the focal image - see the card above.
WINDOW
* To cut the window use any shape die you like, but some do work better than others. Circles, ovals, squares, rectangles, etc work well.
FOCAL PANEL
* The piece of cardstock cut out for the window can be used for the focal panel.
* If alcohol markers are used on the focal panel, use the patterned paper from the die cut to cover the back side of the focal panel - this hides the bleed through from the alcohol markers. This is optional, but it adds a great touch to the card.
FRAME
* To create a frame using dies place the largest die on the cardstock, then place the smaller on inside and center it. Secure the dies with a low tack tape and die cut.
* If the smaller die will not fit easily inside the larger one, die cut the larger shape, place the smaller die on the die cut, center, secure and run through the die cut machine.
