PICTURE THIS - WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE DIES?

 Hi Stampers!

Today’s cards feature the PICTURE THIS DIES, now available in the Stampin’ Up!®️ 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. This set is one of several stand alone dies sets available in the current catalogs. Annual Catalog sample card can be found on pages 67.

Let’s take a look at the dies:

PICTURE THIS DIES

Here are cards I made using the dies:

There are several ways to place the images in the cut out frames.  The cards demonstrate three ways. Let’s take a look:

COUNT ON ME STAMP SET

For this card I die cut the Soft Sea Foam cardstock, and used the same die to cut out a Basic White frame and used the circles for the images.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:
*Card base - Soft Sea Foam 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4” along the 8 1/2” side.
* Other cardstock - 5” x 3 3/4” pieces of Soft Sea Foam and Basic White cardstock, a piece of DSP (Pattern Party used here) cut at 5 1/4” x 4”
* Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black, Mango Melody. Stampin’ Blends - Crumb Cake (light & dark), Old Olive (light), Petal Pink (light & dark), Cinnamon Cider (light), and Cajun Craze (light), Pool Party (light), and Soft Sea Foam (dark).
* Other - White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon about 18”
* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals.

ASSEMBLY
* Die cut the Soft Sea Foam and the Basic White cardstock using the Picture This circle frames die. For this card use the Soft Sea Foam frame, and four of the circles from the Basic White frame (save the frame for another project.
* Stamp the images and greeting (from Kangaroo & Company) on the Basic White die cut pieces. Stamp  images with Memento Tuxedo Black, and stamp the greeting with Mango Melody. Color the critters with Stampin’ Blends.
* Dye the ribbon with the Soft Sea Foam (dark) Stampin’ Blend.
* Adhere the DSP to the card base.
* Place dimensionals on the back side of the frame panel, and center it over the DSP.
* Adhere the die cut images to the card - they will fit right in the cut out holes. (NOTE: I found the easiest way to adhere the stamped images is to put a dab of liquid glue on the card, then slip the image piece inside the die cut hole.)
* Tie the ribbon around the card, tie in a bow, and trim the ends.

WHAT’S COOKIN’ STAMP SET

For this card I simply adhered die cut images inside the framed area of the PICTURE THIS die cut.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Poppy Parade card base 11” x 4 1/4”, scored and folded at 5 1/2” along the 11’ side.
* Other cardstock / DSP - Poppy Parade cut at 5” x 3 3/4”; scraps of Basic White for images and greeting;
DSP cut at 5 1/4” x 4” (Pattern Party used here).
* Inks - Poppy Parade, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Memento Tuxedo Black.
* Other - Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon about 8” and Tasteful Labels Dies and Cookin’ Dies.
* Adhesive of choice, glue dots, and dimensionals.

ASSEMBLY
* On Basic White cardstock stamp the images and the  greeting
* Die cut the frame with the Picture This die with rectangular cut outs. Die cut the greeting and the images.
* Adhere the DSP to the card base.
* Adhere the Poppy Parade frame to the card front with dimensionals.
* Put dimensionals on the back side of the images, and place them inside the framedareas.
* Place a dimensional on the left side of the greeting piece (side that will be closest to the measuring cups), and place adhesive on the other side. Put the greeting in place.
* Tie a bow with the ribbon; adhere it with a glue dot. Trim the ends.

GARDEN BIRDHOUSES STAMP SET

For this card I used the die and printer paper to make a template. The template ensured perfect placement of the stamped images.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:
* Coastal Cabana card base cut at 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”.
* A piece of Basic White cardstock, a piece of 6” x 6” DSP- Brights (Coastal Cabana), and printer paper all cut at 5” x 3 3/4”. Scraps of Basic White and Coastal Cabana cardstock for the greeting.
* Inks - Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana, and Pool Party; Stampin’ Blends -  Pumpkin Pie (light and dark), Pool Party (dark), Crumb Cake (light and dark), Pale Papaya (light and dark), Daffodil Delight (light and dark), Bermuda Bay (light).
* Other - Stitched Rectangles Die (1 3/4” x 1 3/8”); Pool Party Sheer Ribbon - about 14 inches. Blending Brush.
* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals. Washi tape painter’s tape - any type of low tack tape.

ASSEMBLY
* Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock at 1 7/8” x 1 1/2” to made the greeting.
* Stamp the greeting with Coastal Cabana ink on Basic White cardstock. Stamp the two birds with Soft Suede ink. Add some color to them with the Crumb Cake (light) Stampin’ Blend.
* Die cut the greeting with the Stitched Rectangle Die.
* Place the piece of printer paper on top of the DSP, and die cut the two pieces together using the Picture This rectangle frames die. Remove the rectangle pieces from the frame, and gently separate the printer paper and DSP.
* Place the 5” x 3 3/4” piece of Basic White cardstock under the printer paper die cut frame. Use the Washi tape on the corners of the printer paper to hold things in place.
* Stamp the birdhouses inside the frames onto the Basic White cardstock with Soft Suede ink.
* Remove the printer paper frame.
* Color the birdhouses with the Stampin’ Blends.
* Use the Blending Brush and the Pool Part ink to add a bit of color (sky) around the birdhouses. Also add a bit of the Pool Party ink around the greeting.
* Adhere the Coastal Cabana DSP frame onto the image panel. Place dimensionals on the back of this piece and adhere it to the card base.
* Adhere the greeting to its mat, and attach the greeting to the card with dimensionals.
* Wrap the ribbon around the card, tie it in a bow, and trim the ends.

MORE GARDEN BIRDHOUSES EASY TO MAKE CARD IDEAS.

 Hi Stampers!

Today’s post is a continuation of the Tuesday, 8 June 2021 post, and features two more cards made with the GARDEN BIRDHOUSES stamp set. Summertime is so busy, but I don’t want  to (and won’t) put my card making on hold. For me, the solution is setting aside 30 - 40 minutes of card making time at least 3 days a week. First I focus on quick and easy cards, and then create slightly stepped up versions of the cards. For me, creating the quick and easy versions first helps me come up with and put together the stepped up versions faster. The cards shown on Tuesday were quick and easy (I made them in just under thirty minutes), and basically required stamps, ink, and paper. Today’s cards took me about the same amount of time - maybe five or six minutes longer. I used stamps, ink, and paper, and added some fussy cutting, die cutting, and added texture with an embossing folder. (In this case “ink” means ink pads used with stamps, blending brushes, and sponge daubers; and Stampin’ Write and Stampin’ Blends markers.)

Here is a look at the GARDEN BIRDHOUSES stamp set:

And here are the cards from the other day:

And here are today’s cards:

As you can see, I retained the Balmy Blue, So Saffron, and Crumb Cake color theme. I did swap out the Crumb Cake card bases for Balmy Blue and So Saffron ones.

SUPPLIES:
* Balmy Blue card base
* So Saffron cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4” plus a scrap piece
* Basic White cardstock cut at 5” x 3 3/4” plus a scrap piece
* Inks - Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue, and Stampin’ Blends (for colors see 8 June post)
* Stitched Rectangles Dies (die cut will be 1 5/8” x 1 1/4”.

ASSEMBLY:
* Stamp one of each of the birdhouses on the scrap of Basic White cardstock, and stamp the greeting on the scrap of So Saffron with Crumb Cake ink. Stamp the tree branches and birdhouse poles on the 5” x 3 3/4” piece of Basic White cardstock with Crumb Cake ink.
* Color the bird houses, the tree branches, and the poles with Stampin’ Blends.
* Use a blending brush and Pool Party and Balmy Blue inks to add some sky to the focal panel.
* Die cut the greeting with the Stitched RectNgles die.
* Fussy cut the birdhouses and put dimensionals on the back side of each one.
*Adhere the focal panel to the So Saffron mat; adhere this to the Balmy Blue card base.
* Adhere the birdhouses in place on the poles.
* Adhere the greeting to the card.

SUPPLIES:
* So Saffron card base plus a large scrap
* Balmy Blue cardstock cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Large scrap of  Basic White cardstock
* Layering Circles Dies (1 7/8” diameter circle, and 2” diameter scallop circle and 1 1/8” diameter circle)
* Tasteful Textile 3-D embossing folder
* Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Balmy Blue ink pads, and Stampin’ Blends
* Blending Brush and sponge dauber
* 16-18 inches of White crinkle seam binding ribbon
* Dimensionals

ASSEMBLY:
* On the scrap of Basic White cardstock with Crumb Cake ink, stamp each of the three birdhouses being certain to leave room for die cutting each image. Color them with Stampin’ Blends.
* Stamp the greeting in Soft Suede on the Basic White cardstock.
* On the Balmy Blue cardstock using Balmy Blue ink, stamp the bird images all over the cardstock.
* Use a sponge dauber and some Balmy Blue ink and sponge the edges of the Balmy Blue cardstock.
*  Using the blending brush and Balmy Blue ink add sky around each birdhouse and around the greeting.
* Fussy cut the greeting.
Die cut the three birdhouses with the circle die, die cut a small So Saffron circle with the smallest circle die, and cut three scalloped circle dies cuts.
* Place the Balmy Blue stamped layer inside the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (or other die cutting machine).
* Adhere the Balmy Blue panel to the card base.
* Adhere the fussy cut “hello” to the So Saffron circle, adhere each birdhouse image to a So Saffron scallop circle base.

* Wrap the ribbon around the card base and tie a bow.

CREATE PRETTY CARDS IN NO TIME WITH GARDEN BIRDHOUSES + BLENDING BRUSHES

 Hi Stampers!

Today’s cards are quick and easy to make, perfect cards for busy summer days! With some stamping, a bit of coloring, and adding a sky for the background with ink and blending brushes you can put these cards together in no time. The featured stamp set is GARDEN BIRDHOUSES.

Here is a look at the cards:

And here is a look at the stamp set:

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE THE CARDS

* 2 Crumb Cake card bases
* 2 pieces of So Saffron cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”
* 2 pieces of Basic White cardstock cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Ink pads - Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, and Balmy Blue
* Stampin’ Write Markers - Fresh Freesia, Flirty Flamingo, and Granny Apple Green
* Stampin’ Blends Markers - Crumb Cake (light and dark), So Saffron (light and dark), Balmy Blue (light), Old Olive (light and dark), Gray Granite (light and dark), Pale Papaya (light and dark), Color Lifter
* Blending brush(es)
* Stampin’ Seal or adhesive of choice

TO ASSEMBLE THIS CARD

* With Crumb Cake ink on one of the pieces of Basic White cardstock, stamp the branch, the string for the birdhouse, and the birdhouse.
* Color the leaves with the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. Color the branch with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. Color the roof, perch, and bottom of the birdhouse with the So Saffron Stampin’ Blends. Use the Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend outline the inside lines on the main part of the birdhouse. Use the color lifter over the Balmy Blue to move the color toward the center of the sections.
* Ink up a blending brush with Pool Party ink and begin applying ink around the tree branch and birdhouse. Move out and up from the images keeping the ink coverage light. Allow the ink to tapper off in a bit of a diagonal line toward the right bottom of the focal point. Clean the Pool Party ink off the blending brush by rubbing it over a piece of scrap paper.
* Ink up the blending brush with Balmy Blue ink. Blend in Balmy blue along the tree branch and around the bird house.
* Stamp the sentiments in the lower right hand side of the card panels using Crumb Cake ink.
* Center the focal panel on the So Saffron cardstock, and adhere this piece to the Crumb Cake card base.

* Stamp the poles and birdhouses with Crumb Cake ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. Color the poles with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.
* Color each birdhouse with Stampin’ Blends markers. From left to right - I used So Saffron with Balmy Blue, for the next one - Gray Granite for the roof, Crumb Cake (light) and Gray Granite (light) for the rest of the birdhouse, and for the last birdhouse - for the roof I used Crumb Cake (light) with the Color Lifter, on the main part of the birdhouse I used Pale Papaya (light and dark), for the door and area directly above it I used Balmy Blue (light).
* For the flowers I used Fresh Freesia and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write markers to color directly on the stamp, and used Granny Apple Green for the stems. Stamp across.
Use the grass stamp and Granny Apple Green ink and stamp twice, reink stamp twice, across.
* Ink up a blending brush with Pool Party and rub it lightly over the cardstock to create the sky.
* ink up the blending brush with Balmy Blue ink and apply ink along the poles and above the birdhouses.
* Stamp the “hello” in the upper left corner of the panel with Crumb Cake ink.
* Adhere the focal piece to the So Saffron card base, then adhere the piece to the crumb cake card base.

These cards do go together quickly I made both of these from start to finish in just under 30 minutes. I really like the way the blending brushes can be used to create a soft colored sky. I hope you give the blending brushes a try.

That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time...
