TOTALLY TEXTURED

TEXTURED WHISKEY
MAKE MINE A DOUBLE

If you are like me, creating feminine cards comes naturally; cards for guys - not so much. Today I decided to pull out the new Stampin’ Up!®️ stamp set, Whiskey Business.

I like the word play in the sentiments, and there are a few whiskey (more specifically bourbon) aficionados in my family, so I bought the stamp set. Using it turned out not to be as easy as I had imagined, but I did make two cards I am happy with. So get ready for a double shot of Whiskey Business!

I like the pairing of  Cinnamon Cider with Cajun Craze, but what I like most about this card is all the texture.

First, let’s talk about the Cinnamon Cider panel. It is made from the Color Velveteen Paper Pack (found on page 153 of the annual catalog). The paper is gorgeous. It feels so soft - like velvet! It comes in a package of 3 - 12”x12”  sheets, one each of Cinnamon Cider, Highland Heather, and Soft Seafoam.

I added texture to the Cajun Craze mat under the focal image by using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. The texture on the remainder of the card base was achieved with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.  The diamonds might be dainty, but the texture is pleasingly bold. I really like both of these embossing folders!

Of course I had to add a little something else to the card. I chose to add some ribbon I tied into a knot bow. The ribbon is the 2020-2022 In Color Ribbon in Cinnamon Cider.

Here is the other card I made:

For this card I added some texture in three ways. First, the DSP I chose had a bit of a textured look to it. It is from the In Good Taste collection. It is simply a solid color, with uneven tones - almost a sun-washed, or faded look. I used it for the background and for the sentiment. Another way, I added texture was using the Scripty embossing folder on the background panel. I lightly sponged over the embossed areas and around the edges of the panel with Gray Granite ink. The sponging adds a bit of depth and enhances the texture. Finally there is quite a bit of layering on this card, and the sentiment is popped up on dimensionals, which adds another bit of textured interest.

Adding elements of texture to your cards is an easy way to take things up a notch. Why not give it a try?

That’s it for today. Until next time...

Stamp Happy!
