ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL OCCASIONS; THREE CARD SIZES - ONE DESIGN

Hi Stampers!

When I first started making cards every card I made was an A-2 size, meaning the front of the card measures 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”. It wasn’t long and I realized A-2 cards are not always the best size for all card giving occasions, and I delved in to creating cards of different sizes. There are numerous card sizes to choose from each with its own list of pluses and minuses. Today’s post focuses on three card sizes and how to take one card design and modify it for three card sizes. We’ll start with the A-2 size and repeat the same card design on a notecard (card front measures 5” x 3 1/2”), and finally use the design to create a gift card sized  card -as in card that accompanies a gift - (card front measures 3” x 3”). 

Let’s take a look at today’s cards:

Why make cards of various sizes? First of all it offers card makers an opportunity to switch things up a bit, get out of cardmaking ruts and spur creativity.Secondly, as mentioned earlier an A-2 card is not always practical for all situations. A 3”x3” card can easily be attached to or tucked inside a gift. Notecards are the perfect size for mailing or delivering in person invitations, thank you cards, etc. 

My sample cards are Valentines and were created for me to mail (A-2), and for my grandkids to give to teachers (note cards), and classmates (3”x 3”).

STAMPIN’ UP!®️ MEDIUM ENVELOPES are A-2 size and come in a package of 40 in Basic White, Very Vanilla, and in a package of 50 in Clear.

STAMPIN’ UP!  NOTECARDS & ENVELOPES come in a package of 20 notecards and 20 envelopes in Basic White, Very Vanilla, and Kraft.

STAMPIN’ UP!  3”x 3” ENVELOPES come in a package of 40, and actually measure slightly larger than 3”x3” to accommodate a 3”x3” card.

NOTE - In the US A-2 cards and notecards can be mailed. The 3”x3” cards cannot.

TODAY’S CARDS:

For all  today’s cards I used the same layout; the 3”x3” is slightly different with the greeting stamped inside as opposed to on the outside of the card.

* Cardbase 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4” along the 8 1/2” side

* DSP of choice 5” x 3 3/4” (you can use 5 1/4” x 4” if you prefer.

* Basic White cardstock to stamp images - about 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”

* Cardstock of choice for mats, embellishments, and sentiments

GENERAL SUPPLIES AND MEASUREMENTS FOR NOTECARDS

* Card base 5” x 7” scored and folded along the 7” side at 3 1/2” or use a Stampin’ Up! notecard

* DSP of choice cut at 3 1/4” x 4 3/4”

* Basic White cardstock to stamp images - about 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”

* Cardstock of choice for mats, embellishments, and greetings

GENERAL SUPPLIES AND MEASUREMENTS FOR 3”x3” CARDS

* Card base 6” x 3” scored and folded at 3” along the 6” side

* Basic White cardstock for stamping image

* Cardstock of choice for mats and embellishments 

* DSP of choice cut at 2 3/4” x 2 3/4”

* Basic White cardstock for image

* Regency Park DSP - Night of Navy with Balmy Blue dots
