CREATE FUN FASHION CARDS WITH THE “HEY GIRLFRIEND” STAMP SET & PAPER PIECING TECHNIQUE
Hi Stampers!
Today I have some fun girly cards to share with you. To create the cards I used the HEY GIRLFRIEND stamp set. It is in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ JANUARY - JUNE 2021 MINI CATALOG. The sales period for this catalog is coming to a close 30 June. Several items from the mini catalog have carried over to the STAMPIN’ UP! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. All other items will be retiring. To see a list of retiring items, and the prices for discounted items click HERE. Sale prices will apply to items ordered at or after 1PM Mountain Time (3 PM Eastern) on Tuesday 2 June 2021.
For today’s cards I decided to do some paper piecing. Paper piecing is a very easy technique, and an interesting way to add some color and a bit of dimension to stamped images. Simply select an area (s) of the stamped image where you want a touch of color and pattern, then select some DSP. Stamp the image on Basic White cardstock. Stamp the image (or part of it) on the selected DSP. Cut out the piece from the DSP you want to add to your image and glue it in place. For these cards I chose DSP with smaller designs so as not to overwhelm the images.
Let’s look at the cards!
And here is the stamp set...
HEY GIRLFRIEND
This is such a cute stamp set to use when creating cards for girls of all ages. It is a great set for all of you who enjoy coloring, and it is a great set for paper piecing! I had so much fun selecting DSP for the clothing!
This card has a Fresh Freesia card base and a 5 1/4” x 4” Fresh Freesia layer that was embossed using the Hammered Metal 3-D embossing folder. The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a 4” x 3 1/4” piece of Basic White cardstock matted on a 4 1/8” x 3 3/8” piece of Night of Navy cardstock. The images were colored with Stampin’ Blends markers. The dress was paper pieced with paper from Hydrangea Hill DSP; the skirt paper is from Pattern Party DSP, and the tunic paper is from the Pansy Petals DSP. The greeting was stamped with Night of Navy ink on Basic White cardstock and matted on Night of Navy. I just stamped the greeting on a strip of Basic White cardstock and trimmed it, then adhered it to a small piece of Night of Navy, and trimmed the excess away. The focal image and greeting were attached to the card with dimensionals. I added a small Fresh Freesia bow. (Open Weave Ribbon)
For the remaining cards the images were stamped on a Basic White cardstock cut at 1 1/2” x 3 1/4”. These pieces were all matted on cardstock that measures 1 3/4” x 3 1/2”.
This card has a Petal Pink card base. The DSP panel is from the Flowering Cactus DSP, as is the paper for the dress. The panel is cut at 1 1/2” x 5 1/2”. The panel is matted on Calypso Coral cardstock cut at 1 3/4” x 5 1/2”. The mat for the focal image is also Calypso Coral. I wrapped white twine around the panel a few times and tied a bow around it. The focal image is on dimensionals. The greeting was stamped with Calypso Coral ink.
This card has a Soft Sea Foam card base. The DSP panel is 4 1/4” x 2” and is matted on a 4 1/4” x 2 1/4” piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The focal piece is also mounted on Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The DSP for the panel and the tunic is from the Flowering Cactus DSP. I wrapped linen thread around the panel 4 times and tied a bow around it. The focal image is on dimensionals. The greeting is stamped with Pear Pizzazz ink.
The card base for this card is Calypso Coral. The background panel is a piece of Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”. I inked one side of the Tasteful Textile 3-D embossing folder with Calypso Coral ink, placed the basic white cardstock inside, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. The focal image and sentiment are mounted on some Rainbow Glimmer Paper. The DSP for the skirt is from the Flowering Cactus DSP. The focal image is on dimensionals. The tiny heart accent on the sentiment piece is from the Resin Hearts (SNAIL MAIL SUITE). I colored one of the white hearts with a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend (dark).

The card base is Basic White. The Poppy Parade mat is 4 1/4” x 2 1/2”. The Basic White mat is 4 1/4” x 2 1/4”. The DSP is from the 6” x 6” DSP - Brights. It is Poppy Parade cut at 4 1/4” x 2”. The dress is cut from the same DSP. White Baker’s Twine was wrapped around the piece 4 times and tied with a bow. The greeting is stamped with Poppy Parade ink. The focal image is on dimensionals.
