Hi Stampers!
Today I am sharing some ideas and techniques to use with patterned papers (DSP - Designer Series Papers). These ideas can be used with most DSP. I used the FANCY FLORA DSP featured in the Stampin’ Up!®️ January - April Mini Catalog. This DSP is retiring, but as of the date of this post it is still available for order. The cards are easy to make and perfect for those times when you need a card in a hurry! Let’s take a look at the cards:
STAMP A GREETING DIRECTLY ONTO THE DSP AND ADD SOME BLING

STAMP A GREETING DIRECTLY ONTO THE DSP
* Pansy Patch stamp set for greeting
* Card base - A-2 size - Calypso Coral cardstock 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ - floral looking pattern with Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Night of Navy; cut at
5” x 3 3/4”
* Ink - Orchid Oasis
* Inside panel -Petal Pink 5” x 3 3/4”
* Elegant Faceted Gems^ - 5, clear
* Adhesive
SUPPLIES FOR THE CARD ON THE RIGHT

* Mat - Evening Evergreen cardstock ^ 5 1/4” x 4”
* DSP - Fancy Flora Evening Evergreen, Soft Sea Foam, Soft Succulent, Daffodil Delight 5” x 3 3/4”
* Ink - Evening Evergreen^

* Mat - Calypso Coral 5 1/9” x 3 7/8”
* Fancy Flora DSP^ - 5” x 3 3/4” Floral like pattern with Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight
* Cardstock for greeting - Soft Suede^, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink
* Inside panel - Petal Pink 5” x 3 3/4”
* Ink - Soft Suede^
Dies - Stylish Shapes (banner) - cut from Soft Suede cardstock^, Mini Pocket Envelope Dies (scalloped rectangle) cut from Calypso Coral; Beautiful Shapes Dies^ (rounded corners rectangle) cut from Petal Pink and stamp greeting on it with Soft Suede ink^.
NOTE - cut Soft Suede banner in half long ways and mount to back of Calypso Coral scalloped rectangle.
* Bow - Linen thread - 2 strands, each 7” long. Tie in bow together to make a double bow.
* Adhesive, dimensionals to pop up greeting, glue dot to attach bow
SUPPLIES FOR CARD TOP RIGHT
* Biggest Wish stamp set
* Card base A-2 size, Crumb Cake
* Cardstock for inside panel - Basic White cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Cardstock for mat - Soft Suede cut at 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”
* DSP - Fancy Flora floral like pattern with Soft Suede, Soft Succulent, & Evening Evergreen cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Cardstock for greeting scraps of Soft Suede^ and Basic White
* Ink - Soft Suede^
* Dies (for greeting and greeting mat) - Something Fancy Dies
* Ribbon - Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon^ - 2 strips cut at 5 1/2” (put across card about 3/4 way down, attach wire adhesive or glue dot to back side of panel (matted DSP), another 2 strips each about 9” long. Tie these two pieces together to create a double bow. Attach to card front with glue dot.
* Adhesive, dimensionals (to pop up greeting), and glue dots
SUPPLIES FOR CARD BOTTOM CENTER
NOTE - This card is the same as the previous card, except it is oriented differently, the card base and mat colors are opposite, the greeting is stamped on Crumb Cake as opposed to Basic White, and the ribbon is Evening Evergreen in a single strand with a bow. Below are the specifics for the differences:
* Card base - Soft Suede cardstock^
* Mat - Crumb Cake
* Greeting - Crumb Cake cardstock matted on Soft Suede cardstock
* Ribbon - Evening Evergreen^ about 6” to go across the card, and about 9” for the now
STAMP ON THE DSP AS A BACKGROUND FOR YOUR IMAGES
SUPPLIES FOR CARD ON THE LEFT
* Cup of Tea stamp set^
* Card base A-2 size; Pool Party
* Inside panel - Basic White cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Mats - Tahitian Tide cut two; one at 1 3/8”x 5 3/8” the second at 2 7/8” x 5 3/8”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ (Pool Party & Soft Sea Foam) cut one at 1 1/4” x 5 1/4” and one at 2 3/4” x 5 1/4”
NOTE - THE CARD FRONT PANEL IS TWO SEPARATE PANELS. On the 1 1/4” wide piece stamp the “thank you” 4 times and stamp 5 of the smaller leaf images between the thank you. Adhere to its May. Use the larger greenery stamp and stamp the image several times on the remaining piece of DSP. Adhere to its mat
* Greeting - DSP cut with Stitched Rectangles Dies^ (1 1/4” x 1 3/4”) and cut Tahitian Tide mat at 1 7/8” x 1 3/8”. Stamp the “thank you” and two small leaf images on the DSP.
* Ink - Tahitian Tide and Stampin’ Blend - Tahitian Tide (dark)
* Ribbon - Pool Party Sheer^ - 24” - 26” - wrap around card front and tie into bow
* Gems - Rhinestone Basic Jewels - 5, colored with the Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend
* Adhesive and dimensionals for greeting
SUPPLIES FOR CARD ON THE RIGHT
* Let’s Set Sail stamp set^
* Sail Boat Builder Punch
* Card base - A-2 size, Orchid Oasis
* Basic White cardstock - 5” x 3 3/4”
* Mat - Basic Black 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ - Orchid Oasis and Fresh Freesia pattern
* Basic White cardstock to punch out sails
* Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
* Adhesive and dimensionals (for sails)
STAMP ON THE DSP WITH A BACKGROUND STAMP OR LARGER STAMP
* Daisy Garden Background Stamp^
* Eclectic Garden stamp set (greeting)^
* Card base A-2 size Daffodil Delight
* Mat - Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ - Daffodil Delight with strokes of Calypso Coral
* Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin’ Blends - Old Olive (light) for stems and leaves, and Daffodil Delight (dark) for center of daisies and to color the pearls
NOTE - Usually we use Stampin’ Blends on Basic White cardstock for best results. I used them on the DSP to add a bit more definition and dimension.
* Greeting - scrap of the DSP that measures 2 1/2” x 1” and scrap of Basic Black cardstock cut at 2 3/4” x 1 /4”
Ribbon - Black & White Gingham - about 25” - wrap around matted DSP panel and tie in a bow
* Pearls Basic Jewels^ -3, colored with a Stampin’ Blend - Daffodil Delight (dark)
* Adhesive and dimensionals ( for greeting)
SUPPLIES FOR CARD ON THE RIGHT

* Butterfly Brilliance stamp set^
* Brilliant Wings Dies^
* Eclectic Garden (for sentiment)^
* Card base - Basic White (thick) cut at 11” x 4 1/4”, scored at 4” and 5 1/2”
* Fine Shimmer Specialty Paper^ Fresh Freesia, cut 2 - one at 1 1/2” x 4 1/4” and one at 4” x 4 1/4” adhere these pieces to the card front. There are two pieces to allow the card front to open more easily.
* Inside panel - Fresh Freesia cut at 3 3/4” x 4”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ (Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia)
* Scrap of Basic White for greeting
* Ink - Starry Sky; Wink of Stella (for butterfly)
* Dies - Beautiful Shapes (for greeting)^
* Ribbon - Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon^ - about 30” to wrap around card front 3 times, and another piece that is about 12” long (for bow)
* Gems - Opal Rounds^ - 5
* Adhesive and dimensionals (for butterfly)
NOTE - Stamp the butterfly stamp and die cut. Choose the butterfly you like best for the card front. I used a smaller butterfly image for the inside of the card.
EMBOSS DSP WITH AN EMBOSSING FOLDER
SUPPLIES FOR CARD ON THE LEFT
* Nature’s Harvest stamp set (greeting)^
* Card base - A-2 size, Soft Suede^
* Inside panel - Very Vanilla 5” x 3 3/4”
* Mat - Very Vanilla cut at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ - Soft Suede with Basic White
* Greeting - Soft Suede^ and Very Vanilla cardstock scraps
* Ink - Soft Suede^
* Twine - Baker’s Twine Essentials- Crumb Cake about 30” to wrap around embossed and matted DSP, and two strands each about 6” long, slip both strands under the twine wrapped around the matted DSP and tie in a knot.
* Embossing Folder - Timeworn Type
* Embellishment - Brushed Metallic Dots - Bronze, 5
* Dies - Stitched Rectangles Dies^
* Adhesive and dimensionals (for greeting)
SUPPLIES FOR CARD ON THE RIGHT
* Biggest Wish stamp set
* Card base -A-2 size - Night of Navy
* Inside panel- Basic White cardstock cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* DSP - Fancy Flora^ - Night of Navy cut at 5” x 3 3/4”
* Mat for DSP - Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
* Greeting - die cut circle from mat using largest Stylish Shapes circle die
* Ink - Night of Navy; Stampin’ Blends - Night of Navy (dark)
* Embossing Folder - Painted Texture
* Ribbon - Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon - 2 strips about 5” each; wrap around matted and embossed DSP, secure strips to the back with adhesive or tape.
* Embellishments - Pearls Basic Jewels^ - 3 colored with the Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend
* Adhesive and dimensionals (for greeting)
The “^” symbol indicates a retiring item.
