MORE CARD LAYOUTS THAT USE SCRAPS

 Hi Stampers!

Last week I shared two similar card layouts that focused on using scraps of cardstock and scraps of Designer Series Paper (DSP). Today I have two more similar card layouts to share that also focus on using scraps of cardstock and scraps of DSP. Each layout can be oriented in portrait or landscape perspective.

This week my cards are all birthday cards, and the scraps are from the ARTISTRY BLOOMS DSP (Annual Catalog). The cardstock scraps are Basic Black or Basic White. There are a few exceptions. Cardstock scraps were also used  for the images and greetings on the cards.

Let’s take a look at the cards.

SHORT STRIPS OF SCRAPS CARDS

To create these cards you will need:
* An A2 sized card base that is either 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” - scored and folded at 4 1/4” or 11” x 4 1/4”- scored and folded at 5 1/2”
* Three strips of DSP each cut at 1 1/4” x 3 3/4”
* Three strips of cardstock for mats, cut at 1 3/8” x 3 7/8”

General instructions for assembly:
* Adhere the DSP strips to the cardstock mats to form 3 panels.
* Adhere the panels to the card base, centering the panels top to bottom, and having about 1/4” border on the sides.
* Adhere the greeting and other images.

RIDE THE RANGE BIRTHDAY

* Garden Green card base, three strips of DSP with Garden Green as the main color, three strips of Basic White cardstock to mat the DSP. These scraps should be cut at dimensions given above.
* Scraps of Basic White cardstock and a small scrap of Garden Green cardstock for the focal image and the sentiment. For the sentiment cut Basic White cardstock at 2 1/4” x 1 1/8”. Stamp the greeting on this piece with Garden Green ink.  To mat the greeting cut a pierce of Garden Green 1 1/4” x 2 1/4” and a piece of Basic White cut at 1 3/8” x 2 3/8”.
* Garden Green ink
* To color the focal image I used - Stampin’ Blends - Old Olive (light), Pool Party (light), So Saffron (light & dark), Crumb Cake (light & dark), Misty Moonlight (dark), Poppy Parade (light).
* Ride the Range stamp set and Open Range Dies and Happy Thoughts stamp set (all found in the mini catalog).
* All the parts and pieces are put together using Stampin’ Seal except for the horse and rider image which is popped up on dimensionals.

BUTTERFLY BRILLIANCE BIRTHDAY

* This card is identical to the previous card. I just changed the colors  - Gorgeous Grape and Basic White.
* For the sentiment - Basic White cut at 1 1/8” x 2 7/8” and a scrap of Gorgeous Grape cut at 3” x 1 1/4”.
* Stamp the greeting with Gorgeous Grape ink.
* On a 6” x 6” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the Butterfly Brilliance stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Color the butterflies. The butterfly I chose for this card was colored using Highland Heather and Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends. Die cut the butterflies.
* Use Stampin’ Seal to attach the pieces to the cards. Attach the greeting and the butterfly with dimensionals.
* Happy Thoughts stamp set (mini catalog), Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and Brilliant Wings Dies (Special promotion, for details click HERE ).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHICK!

* The strips for this card are the same as for the previous two cards. The only difference is the focal images and sentiment have been positioned to make the card portrait oriented.
* The card base is Melon Mambo, and the DSP is matted on Basic Black.
* Scraps of Basic White and a scrap of Basic Black cardstock is used for the images and the sentiment.
* Memento Tuxedo Black, Melon Mambo, and Mango Medley inks
* Stampin’ Blends - Mango Medley (dark), Daffodil Delight (dark & light), Magenta Madness (light), Smoky Slate (light, Color Lifter
* Hey Chick & Hey Birthday Chick stamp sets and coordinating dies.
* Stitched Shaped Dies (circles)
* The background panels and the greeting pieces are attached with Stampin’ Seal. The greeting panel and the other die cut images are attached to the card with dimensionals.

CAMOUFLAGE

CAMOUFLAGED CARDS
AND CRITTERS

Last Saturday my husband was out by our garden when along the fence row he saw this!

He took the picture, texted it to me along with a message stating the critter is a wild rosebush death adder! Of course I needed to go see this death adder for myself. I had no clue such a colorful snake called Indiana home. Most of the snakes around here are various shades of brown and black.  This particular snake is actually a rough green snake, not a wild rosebush death adder. Honestly, it matters not  what one calls it, if I came across one of these guys in my garden I would let out an ear piercing scream, and hightail it to the house faster than I’ve run in years! All that aside, the snake is non- venomous, and is a nice shade of green. To me he looks Granny Apple Green! I still do not want him in my garden!

Seeing this snake and how well he blends in with his environment reminded me I had yet to ink up my Camouflage background stamp. The background stamp made its appearance in June as part of the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21 Annual Catalog.

I know a little boy who likes camouflage and dinosaurs. So I pulled out the Dino Days stamp set and the coordinating Dino Dies.

A couple of years ago Eclipse Cards were all the rage, and I thought this type of card might work well with the whole idea of camouflage. For those of you not familiar with an eclipse card it consists of a card base, a focal panel usually made of a lighter color cardstock, and a darker background panel (for the “eclipse”) the same size as the focal panel.The focal image is usually, but not always a word (such as hello, love, joy, etc) cut from the focal panel. The focal panel is adhered to the darker panel, then the die cut letters or images have dimensionals on the back side and are put back into their original positions. The focal panel may also have a design stamped on it prior to die cutting the layers or images from it. This focal panel is then adhered to the card base.

For this particular card I used the same color focal panel and background panel to stay true to the camouflage theme. Here is the card:

I used a Crumb Cake card base that measures 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4”; two pieces of Garden Green cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”; a scrap piece of Crumb Cake for the greeting.

I stamped one piece of Garden green with the Camouflage background stamp using Garcen Green ink. Next I die cut the brontosaurus and pterodactyl  from the stamped cardstock. I adhered the camouflage panel to the other garden green panel. I attached dimensionals to the die cuts and adhered them in place on the camouflage panel. I stamped the Happy Birthday on the scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock with Garden Green ink. I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out the sentiment, and adhered it to the card. The Happy Birthday comes from the Rustic Retreat stamp set.

This card took very little time to make, and I am certIn it will bring a smile to a camo-wearin’, dino lovin’ little guy I know. An eclipse card is just that easy! I hope this card gives you with greatinkspirations.

Until next time...
