Father’s Day is coming up, and this year I made trophy cards for the dads in my life. Trophy cards (stand alone pop up cards, pedestal card, etc) are easy to make, go together in no time, and are sure to please. Plus they fit perfectly inside the Stampin’ Up!®️ Medium Envelopes (A-2 size). Let’s look at some of the trophy cards I created (yes, one is a birthday card).

HOW TO MAKE AN IMPRESSIVE TROPHY CARD - IT’S EASY

SUPPLIES FOR TROPHY CARD

* Card base - cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 10” score at 1 1/4”, 2 1/2”, 3 3/4”, 5”, 6 1/4”, 7 1/2” & 8 3/4”.  Place card base on paper trimmer with 10” side along top. At the 5” score line cut a slit from 5/8” to 3 5/8”.

* For focal panel - Base - 2 3/4” x 5 1/2”; Mat ( cardstock or DSP) 2 1/2” x 4 1/2”; Focal layer - Basic White cardstock (or color of choice) - 2 1/4” x 3 3/4”

* Greeting 1” x 4” - can add layers if you like; cutting dimensions for cardstock will depend on the length and width of the greeting.

SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL WITH THE SPIRAL DYE BACKGROUND STAMP!

 Hi Stampers,

Today I have 9 cards to share with you! Each card features a background stamped with the SPIRAL DYE background stamp (page 118 in the Stampin’ Up!®️ 2021-2022 Annual Catalog). Here is a look at the stamp.

SPIRAL DYE

The easiest way to stamp with this background stamp is to use the STAMPARATUS (Annual Catalog pg. 144), however good results can also be achieved by placing the stamp on CLEAR BLOCK F. Ink the stamp, and with the stamp facing up place your cardstock on the inked stamp. Put a piece of scrap paper over the top of the cardstock and rub gently to transfer the ink to the cardstock.

For the first three cards I used the NOTHING’S BETTER THAN stamp set (pg. 87 Annual Catalog), and one of my favorite color combinations - Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler! These cards are great for encouragement or just to say hello to friends or family.

For this background I stamped the image with Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. I turned my cardstock 180 degrees, inked the cleaned stamp with Early Espresso.

The background for this card was stamped using the same process as for the card above. The background cardstock is Basic White, stamped first with Crumb Cake ink, then Stamped with Early Espresso ink.

The background for this card is the product of one mistake after the other, but I like the result! First I stamped Basic White cardstock with Early Espresso ink. My cardstock stuck to the stamp. I removed it, and thought I had turned it 180 degrees. I hadn’t. I stamped the second time, but I forgot to clean off or reink my stamp, and apparently I had put my cardstock just a tad below my guideline. The result - the stamped image was a second generation of the ink, and the image was just a tad below the original. This left a bit more white area on the background . 

For the next three cards I used the BACK ON YOUR FEET stamp set (Annual Catalog pg 85). These are get well / thinking of you cards.

To create this background I used sponge dauber to apply ink to the stamp. (Inks - Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape. Before stamping on the Basic White cardstock, I spritzed the stamp with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer (pg. 129 Annual Catalog) before stamping. I only stamped the image once. The background piece and the Granny Apple Green mat are slightly tilted on a Pumpkin Pie card base. The greetings were stamped on Granny Apple Green cardstock and cut out by hand. They are mounded on the cards with dimensionals.  The turtle was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends, then fussy cut. The image is attached to the card with my homemade “wobble spring.” (See my 24 February post for instructions.)

The background for this card is yet another happy accident! It appears the colors I used were Mango Melody and Garden Green , but that is incorrect? I used Mango Melody and Coastal Cabana! Apparently when you stamp Coastal Cabana over Mango Melody you get Garden Green! (And yes, I forgot to turn my cardstock!) After a few sighs, good griefs, and what was I thinkings, I turned my cardstock 180 degrees and stamped on Mango Melody. The background piece was matted on Mango Melody. The card base is Garden Green.  The sentiments were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Mango Melody cardstock, and cut out by hand. The sloth was colored with Stampin’ Blends, and fussy cut. The sloth and the sentiments were adhered to the card with dimensionals.

This background is Early Espresso and Soft Suede on Basic White cardstock. It is mounted on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. The card base is Soft Suede. The giraffe was stamped with Early Espresso ink, and colored with Stampin’ Blends, then fussy cut. The sentiments were stamped with Early Espresso ink on Daffodil Delight cardstock. The were cut with the Layering Circles Dies. The giraffe and sentiments were attached with dimensionals.

 

The final three cards cards were created using three different stamp sets, and three different techniques.

For this card I used the PARTY PUFFINS stamp set (Annual Catalog pg. 67). The background panel is another one where I applied ink to the stamp using sponge daubers and lightly spritzed it with water before stamping. The background is mounted on a Pacific Point mat. The card base is Poppy Parade. The puffin was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, color was added with Stampin’ Blends, and the image was fussy cut. The sentiments were stamped on Basic White with Pacific Point ink. They are matted on Poppy Parade mats.  I used my paper snips to cut out the sentiments and the mats.

This card’s background was created using four colors of ink - Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Just Jade. I made a mask from printer paper that was the same size as the Basic White cardstock. I cut the mask in half diagonally. I inked one side with Pool Party and stamped. I cleaned the stamp, and masked the side I previously inked. I inked the stamp with Bermuda Bay, and stamped. I turned the cardstock 180 degrees, and repeated the process using the Coastal Cabana and Just Jade ink. This process adds a little extra dimension to the card.  The background is mounted on Bermuda Bay. The card base is Pool Party. The Shark image and sentiment are from SHARK FRENZY stamp set (Mini Catalog pg. 46). The shark is die cut with the SHARK DIES.  The sentiments are stamped with Bermuda Bay ink, and mounted on Bermuda Bay mats. I cut out the sentiments and mats with my paper snips.

This card features the SNAILED IT stamp set (Mini Catalog pg. 55). The background was created with a baby wipe. I put a baby wipe on a silicone craft sheet and applied diagonal lines of Real Red, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, and Garden Green. I inked the stamp with the baby wipe and stamped the image on Basic White cardstock. The background image was adhered to a Daffodil Delight mat. The card base is Pacific Point. The sentiment was stamped on Basic White with Pacific Point. It was cut out with paper snips, and mounted on Daffodil Delight, and cut out with paper snips again. Then I mounted it on Pacific Point, and cut it out with paper snips one final time. The snail image was die cut with the Snail Dies and adhered to a Pacific Point circle cut with the Layering Circle Dies. The sentiment and focal image were attached to the card with dimensionals.

Here is another look at the three sets of cards.

As you can see, I sort of lost control making cards with the SPIRAL DYE background stamp. Why not give this stamp a try. Once you start stamping with it you might discover yourself spiraling out of control too! Not to worry! You will end up with a nice stack of great cards!

REVERSE STAMPING TECHNIQUE

 Hi Stampers!

Today I want to share a simple stamping technique that adds versatility to your stamp sets and your projects. The technique is called reverse stamping or mirror image stamping. Below is a card I made using this technique. This card was also featured in my 13 January post. 

I used the Darling Donkeys stamp set. It is featured in the Sale-a-bration (SAB) brochure, and is available for free with a $50 Stampin’ Up!®️ product order.

For this technique you will need a silicone craft sheet (item # 127853, page 162 Annual Catalog), a stamp, cardstock, and ink.

For the technique:

Ink the stamp.

Stamp the image on the silicone craft sheet.

Position the cardstock over the image, and rub over the area lightly with a towel or your hand.

Lift the cardstock up from the craft sheet. Clean the image from the craft sheet with a damp cloth.

Ink the stamp again and stamp the image as usual.

Add color and other details to the image, and use a a focal point for a card.

That’s all there is to it!

Supplies for this card: Darling Donkeys stamp set (SAB), Heal Your Heart stamp set (SAB), Just Jade card base, Stitched Rectangles dies, Flower and Field DSP (SAB), Basic White cardstock, various Stampin’ Blends, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Balmy Blue ink, and blending brushes.

 Below are two other cards I made with the reverse stamping technique using the Nothing’s Better Than and the Seaside View stamp sets.

Supplies for this card: Nothing’s Better Than stamp set (Annual Catalog), A Touch of Ink stamp set - greeting (SAB), Pool Party card base, Pool Party cardstock cut with Layering Circles Dies -largest scallop circle. Artistry Blooms DSP, Basic White cardstock cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies - largest circle, Memnto Tuxedo Black ink, and Stampin’ Blends to color the cups.

Here are the supplies I used to make the card below:  Seaside View stamp set (Annual Catalog), Enjoy the Moment stamp set - greeting (January -June Mini), Coastal Cabana card base, Coastal Cabana cardstock, for focal image mat, Basic White cardstock, Artistry Blooms DSP, Stitched Nested Labels Dies, Night of Navy Twine (from Well Suited Suite of products - January - June Mini), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and Stampin’ Blends to color the focal image.

NOTHING’S BETTER THAN - PART 2

NOTHING’S BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE

(EXCEPT, MAYBE COCKTAILS)

Hello, everyone! I am still having so much fun with the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set. For today’s cards I used the cocktails stamps. I did a lot of  Two- Step Stampin’ ®️ to fill in the outlined images with lots of color!

This is what I call a 2in 1 card, because two cards come together to make one.  The smaller card measures 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”; and the larger card is an A-2 size (5 1/2” x 4 1/4”).

Here is what you need to make the 2 in 1 card:

Card base (larger card) of Basic Black that measures 5 1/2” x 10”; scored at 4 1/4” and 8 1/2”

Another card base that measures 3 1/2” x 7”; scored at 3 1/2”

1 piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures 4” x 5 1/4” for the inside of the larger card.

3 pieces of Whisper White cardstock that measure 2 3/4” square for stamping your images and greeting for the smaller card.

3 pieces of Basic Black cardstock 3” square.

3 pieces of Magenta Madness cardstock 3 1/4” square

1 piece of DSP (Flowers For Every Season) 4” x 5 1/4” and 1 piece that is 1 1/4” x 51/4”

1 piece of ribbon (2020-2022 In Color - Magenta Madness) 22” long

The photos above show where I stamped the images and sentiments. When assembling the card front, cover the larger card with the DSP, the adhere the smaller card base to the right hand panel placing adhesive only on the right side on the card back. Smaller card opening should face left. Position the Ribbon in place prior to adding the Magenta Madness layer to the card.

Here is a little different take on the 2 In 1 Card. The larger card base is exactly the same as the 2 In 1 Card, but instead of a smaller card attached to the front, there is simply a focal panel centered and mounted on a 3 1/2” square piece of cardstock.

Earlier I mentioned all be Two - Step Stampin’ ®️; first stamp the outline, then use the solid image to add color. To get a 2 toned or multi-colored cocktail, I first inked one color at the top of the stamp and another one toward the bottom of the stamp!

NOTHING’S BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE

A GOOD DAY FOR CHOCOLATE

If you think today is a good day for chocolate... or cookies, or cocktails, or coffee; then today is a good day for you to make a card with the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set. This is a Two Step set, meaning there are outline stamps, and stamps that fill the outline images with color. The set also includes several phrases you can put together in various ways to create sentiments for your cards. The Love You More Than Dies coordinate with the stamp set. The stamp set and dies can be purchased separately, or as a bundle at a 10% savings.

Here is a card I made using the stamp set. I am calling it a modified gatefold card.

Card Base - Early Espresso cardstock, 6 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored at 2 1/4” along the 6 1/2” side

                    Early Espresso 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” for front panel base mat

                    Very Vanilla cardstock 3” x 3” for focal panel

                    Very Vanilla cardstock 3 1/4” x 3 1/4” for interior of card

                    World of Good DSP 4” x 5 1/4” for inside of card

                                                     2” x 5 1/4” for front of card

                                                     3 1/4” x 3 1/4” for front of card
