FUN SIZED CARDS FULL OF CHEERFUL CHRISTMAS GREETINGS - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

Hi Stampers,

We have all heard old sayings like; bigger is not always better, and good things come in small packages. Today I thought we would take a look cards that prove both these adages. That is right, today’s cards are fun size cards - smaller versions of familiar card styles. Let’s take a look!

Yes, I pulled out my much loved JOLLY WORDS stamp set to create these cards. But page down to see the same card styles made using the CHRISTMAS CLASSICS stamp set. To me the JOLLY WORDS stamp set is the perfect mix of whimsy and nostalgia! Look at those cards; they are mini, but mighty.  I find taking a break from A-2 cards gives me new perspectives. I enjoy the challenge of creating interesting designs on a smaller canvas, so to speak.

As you might have guessed the Santa with his sleigh card is a mini slimline card. The ‘Tis the Season Card is a 4 1/4” square card as opposed to the rectangular A-2 card. The joy card is a mini easel card. The mini slimline card will fit nicely inside a letter sized envelope. I use A-2 envelopes (Stampin! Up!®️ medium envelopes) for the square card and the mini easel card. The fit just fine inside, and cost less to mail than cards in square envelopes.

Hi Stampers!

If not, and you would like to take a look, simply click on one of the catalogs in the margin on the right of this page. Then click on the Mini Catalog banner to view all the new items. OR page down and click on digital catalog to put view the catalog or put a copy on your device.

Today we will take an “In Detail” look at the Bag of Bones Bundle! This is a very popular bundle! Currently the dies are not available. They are to be back in stock on Monday.  This bundle is one of those I have a love hate relationship with! I love it! It is just so cute and has so many possibilities for fun projects. I hate it became there are so stamps (23) and many of the stamps are quite small. There are 31, yes 31dies, and of course many of them are tiny. I promised myself I would not purchase trundle with so many tiny stamps and dies as for me these types of bundles are just overwhelming! But . . . this bundle is just is stinkin’ cute!!! So, I broke my rule!😂  I have enjoyed creating with this bundle, all the little stamps and dies do drive me a bit nuts, but they also were really fun to work with. Let’s take a look at a couple of the cards I created using the BAG OF BONES BUNDLE:

He other panel will help you add color to the moon without getting the ink on the remainder of the cardbase. Place the mask with the circle cut out of it on the card panel. Use a blending brush and Lemon Lolly ink to add a touch of color  for the moon. Next go over the entire moon with Wink of Stella.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN CAT

INSIDE

I enjoy making square cards. Changing up card sizes is a nice change of pace and can help you more possibilities for using a stamp set. I find the 4 1/4” square cards are a great canvas for showcasing smaller images.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Card base - Basic Black cardstock cut at 8 1/2” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* Mats - Daffodil Delight cardstock - cut 2 (one for outside and one for inside) 4” x4”
* Focal panel and inside panel - Basic White cardstock  - cut 2 at 3 3/4” x 3 3/4”
* Die cuts - Basic Black cardstock scrap
* Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black, Lemon Lolly, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray, Starry Sky
* Blending Brushes
* Masking Paper, printing paper or other light weight paper (can use same masks as for previous card)
* Adhesive and dimensionals

ASSEMBLY
* Die cut 2 cat images and the fence image from the scrap of Basic Black cardstock
* On one piece of Basic White cardstock stamp the “Eat, Shriek, and Be Scary” sentiment centered and toward the top. Adhere a die cut cat image in the bottom right corner. Adhere to one of the Daffodil Delight squares. This panel goes on the inside of the card.
* Place the mask with the circle die cut from it over the remaining piece of Basic White cardstock. The circle (open area) should be centered and about 1/2” from the bottom of the cardstock. Use a blending brush and apply Lemon Lolly ink to the open area of the mask. Next use another blending brush and a light touch to apply some Pumpkin Pie ink around the center area of the inked circle. Go over the entire area with the Lemon Lolly to blend. Add a bit more Pumpkin Pie ink if you like. Remove the mask and the moon is finished.
* Mask the moon. Using a blending brush and Starry Sky ink cover the cardstock with the ink. Next use the Basic Gray ink and blending brush to add more color to the cardstock and blend the two ink colors as you go. I applied more Basic Gray ink toward the bottom 1/4 of the cardstock to make that area appear darker. Remove the circle mask.
* Stamp the greeting centered above the moon using Memento Tiuxedo Black ink.
* Slip the die cut cat image between the fence sections. Place liquid adhesive on the back side of each section of fence (I did not put adhesive on the very top section of the fence. place 1 dimensional (I used a mini one) on the back side of the cat’s head. Put this piece in place centered over the moon.
* Adhere this panel to the remaining piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock
* Adhere to card front.

CREEPING IT REAL CARD

CREEPING IT REAL CARD - VIEW 2

The idea for this fun fold card came from Lisa Curcio. She calls the fun fold a swinging gatefold card. You can see her tutorial HERE. As opposed to a die cut image on the front of the card, I used a panel. I also tweaked the size of the swinging mechanism to better accommodate the larger size of the image.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Card base - Basic Black cardstock cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored at 2 1/8” and 4 1/4” then fold - both folds are mountain folds.
* Cajun Craze cardstock cut at 5 1/8” x 3 1/8” to mat focal panel
* Creep It Real panel cut from Them Bones DSP
* 4 pieces of DSP cut at 5 1/4” x 1 7/8” from the Them Bones pack
* For inside greeting / space for message or signing - piece of Basic White cardstock cut a 3 1/2” x 1 7/8”
* Two pieces of Basic Black cardstock 2 1/2” x 1/2” scored at 1”
* Scraps of Basic White, Basic Black, and Smoky Slate cardstock and scrap of DSP
* Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black and Basic Gray; Wink of Stella
* Stylish Shapes Dies - circle, 2nd smallest
* 4 brads
* Adhesives and dimensionals

ASSEMBLY
* Stamp the Eat, Shriek… sentiment on Basic White cardstock using the black ink. Select legs and arms for the skeleton as well as the main body, stamp with Basic Gray ink. Die cut the skeleton pieces. Use the circle die  to cut the sentiment. Die cut several stars from the piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.
* The scrap piece of DSP should be 1 7/8” x 1”. Adhere it centered vertically onto a 1 7/8” x 1 1/4” piece of  Basic Black cardstock. Adhere greeting to this piece.
* Adhere DSP panel to Cajun Craze cardstock. Adhere stars to “sky.” Go over moon and stars with Wink of Stella.
* Use the brads to assemble the skeleton. Go over skeleton with Wink of Stella
* Adhere DSP Panels to card base inside and outside.
* Attaching focal panel and swinging mechanism - Open card, fold right side of card front inward. Place adhesive (I used Stampin’ Seal +, Tear & Tape is a good choice as well)on the back side of the long end of the 2 1/2” x 1/2” Basic Black cardstock. Fold back the shorter end. Place the folded edge of the piece up against the gold line of the card front about midway down card front. repeat process with other strip by flipping card base over with front panel still folded inward. Close card front. Now with short end of one strip folded back place adhesive on it. Do the same to the other strip. Gently center focal panel on card front and press down to adhere it to the swinging mechanism.
* Put dimensionals on the head a torso of the skeleton and adhere to card focal panel.
* Adhere the Basic White cardstock centered top to bottom, to the left inside panel of DSP. Stamp a greeting on it if you like.
* Put dimensionals on the back of the sentiment piece. Use dimentionals to adhere to the right hand DSP panel inside the card. The top of the panel should be even with the Basic White cardstock panel. This piece functions as a stopper when the card is displayed.
