CREATING DEPTH WITH STAMPING & MASKING OR STAMPING & DIE CUTTING - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

 Hi Stampers!

Welcome to my STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAY SERIES! In my previous post I used the TREES FOR SALE STAMP SET & TREE LOT DIES, and created two versions of one card design. I simply changed the color scheme and greeting so the cards were appropriate for different occasions. Today I am using the same stamp set and dies to create two versions of a card design. Instead of using different color schemes I am using two different techniques for adding depth and dimension - stamping with masking and die cutting. These techniques can be used with many stamp sets and dies. Let’s take a look at the cards!

TREES FOR SALE STAMP SET

This stamp set is featured in the Stampin’ Up! July - December 2022 Mini Catalog.

TREE LOT DIES

When I wrote the draft version of this post the TREE LOT DIES were still available as a Sale-A-Bration choice. As of 1 August, the dies are no longer available.

TREES FOR SALE: A CARD FOR NOW & ONE LATER - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

 Hi Stampers!

Welcome to my  2022 STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS SERIES! Every Tuesday and Friday from now through 16 December I will share a variety of projects I hope will inspire and encourage you as you work on your Holiday projects. Tuesdays’ posts  will feature projects for many occasions and holidays celebrated in fall and winter. Fridays’ posts will focus exclusively on Christmas. I can’t wait to start sharing the projects with you! So… let’s take a look at today’s project!

I made these cards using the TREES FOR SALE stamp set and the coordinating TREE LOT DIES. The HAPPY TRAILS card (one on the left) can be used now or anytime of year, and is appropriate for a variety of occasions. The CHRISTMAS GREETINGS card (on the right) is a Christmas version of the card. Many times one card design can be used for several different occasions - simply change the color scheme and / or the greeting! Below you will find step by step instructions for making the Christmas version, plus I share an alternative camper free version of the card. Below that you will find the supply list for the Happy Trails card.

TREES FOR SALE STAMP SET

However more items have been added to the Sale-A-Bration choices. For more information check out the flyer at the end of this post.

DIES USED FOR CHRISTMAS VERSION

For Happy Trails version omit the bow and wreath.

DO THE STAMPING

* On focal panel use the detail stamp for largest tree image and the Mint Macaron to stamp tree images - work from the middle out.
* Stamp the large tree image in the lower right corner of the cardstock for inside of card - stamp off on scrap paper first; Ink up the detail stamp for the tree and stamp
* On the scrap Basic White cardstock with Mint Macron stamp one each of the medium and small tree images - stamp off first; now stamp the detail on each stamp - no need to stamp off
* Using Poppy Parade ink stamp the greeting on the Mint Macaron cardstock
* Stamp a sentiment on the Basic White panel for inside of card - the sentiment I used is from the Brightest Glow stamp set (July - December Mini Catalog).

TIME TO DIE CUT

* Use Mint Macaron for the camper body
* Use Poppy Parade for the camper detail and the bow
* Use Parakeet Party for the wreath
* Use the medium and small open tree dies to cut out stamped tree images

TIME FOR ADHESIVE

* Adhere the DSP to the front of the card base
* Adhere the inside panel
* Adhere focal panel to mat
* Adhere greeting to its mat
* Tape a small strip of Basic White cardstock to the back side of the camper - just enough to cover the windows (see photo below)
* Adhere the curtain piece along top of camper window
* Adhere wreath around camper door window
* Adhere bow to top of wreath

PUT CARD TOGETHER

* Adhere focal panel about 3/4” down from top of card
* Adhere greeting about 1/4” up from bottom of card

INSIDE OF CARD

FINISH UP THE CARD

* Place dimensionals on the back side of the camper and the trees
* Place the tallest tree on the left side of the focal panel and the shorter tree on the right side of the focal panel
* Place the camper between the two die cut trees

NO CAMPER ALTERNATIVE

For this version of the card I simply omitted the camper. I used the stamp that looks like 6 dots and Poppy Parade ink to add ornaments to the stamped and die cut trees. Then I added a bow made from the White Glittered Organdy Ribbon (Annual Catalog). The inside of the card is the same except  I added the Poppy Parade ornaments to the stamped tree.

HAPPY TRAILS CARD

SUPPLIES

* Card base - Early Espressso
* DSP - He’s the Man - camping design
* Cardstock - Focal Panel - Basic White, Greeting - Soft Succulent, Mats - Early Espresso
* Inks - Soft Succulent and Early Espresso

Notes:

1. The camper curtain is cut from a small scrap of He’s the Man DSP (Sahara Sand).

2. The greeting is from the stamp set called Campology (Annual Catalog).

3. The cardstock for this greeting is 1/2” x 4” and the mat is cut at 3/4” x 4”. The height of the chosen greeting will determine the height of the cardstock. Add 1/4” to the height of the greeting piece to get the height of the mat.

3. Stamp this greeting from the center outward.

TRIO OF CARDS

Thank you so much for checking in for the first installment of my Stamp Happy Holidays Series. I invite you to check back on Friday (5 August) for the next installment. I will use the same stamp set and dies to make two versions of a card - one using dies and another version using stamps only. See you then.
Until next time…
Stamp Happy!
