TIME FOR A CAMPING TRIP
WITH CAMPOLOGY
So..... I am married to an outdoorsy kind of guy. I truly believe he feels more at home in the woods than in our house. Over the years we have gone camping in many wilderness areas around the country; from Maine, to Texas, to Alaska, and many places in between. When I say camping I mean backpacking and sleeping in a tent. I think our most memorable camping trip was in the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. Our son was about 8 years old. Our adventure began on New Year’s Eve! We were in a wilderness area where no camp fires were allowed. There is nothing like warming up your hands over a can of Sterno! Our son always put a rope in his backpack. He knew it would come in handy, and during this particular trip it did. During our first night the weather surprised us with a bit of freezing rain. The next morning we broke camp, and began our hike to our next camp site. Before long we found ourselves on a very rocky, ice-covered path. The slippery path became more treacherous, and suddenly took an abrupt turn downward. This is where the rope my son had carried around with him came in handy! My husband used it to lower my son and me down off the icy rocks to a nice flat grassy area. My husband somehow maneuvered his way down to us, and handed our son his rope. Our son was so proud. He knew that rope would come in handy!
By now, I am certain you understand why I just had to get my hands on the Stampin’ Up!®️ CAMPOLOGY stamp set.
I really like the variety of images and sentiments included in the set. Today I made two cards using the this stamp set.
The first card is a gate fold card. The Terra-cotta Tile card base is 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 2 1/8” x 6 3/8”. The two Very Vanilla front panels are each 2” x 5 3/8”. I stamped the tree images on each panel with Old Olive ink. I stamped the tent on a piece of Very Vanilla scrap with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored it with Stampin” Blends, and fussy cut it. I used Pool Party ink on a sponge with a “pouncing” motion to add a bit of color (sky) to the Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and the tops of the trees on another scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, and cut it out with one of the Stitched Rectangular Dies then mounted it on a piece of Terra-cotta Tile cardstock. To assemble the card I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the Very Vanilla panels. I put the tent on dimensionals and adhered it to the card front. I used Stampin’ Seal on the left side of the sentiment and added it to the card.
Here is a look at the inside of the card.
The second card was quick and easy. I used Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the binocular images on a 3 3/4” x 5” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. The Mossy Meadow cardstock mat is 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”. I used a 2 1/4” punch to cut a circle from the cardstock to use as a mat for the sentiment. The focal image is mounted on a Crumb Cake card base. The sentiment was adhered using dimensionals.
