THE CARD MAKING COMFORT ZONE!
(AKA GETTING OUT OF A RUT)
I don’t know about you, but I have a few card layouts, color schemes, and techniques I tend to use over and over and over. There really is not anything wrong with doing so, but there are times when all my cards begin looking alike. It is one thing when I notice it, but when someone (who is not a card maker) thanks me for sending a card, but adds, “Oh by the way, this card looks a lot like the one you sent me last year,” maybe it is time I try something new! So, that is what I did for today’s card. I do not believe I have ever used these colors together - ever! Now that I have, I just might use them together again, but not too often. I do not want to get myself in another card making rut!
For this card I used the very pretty Timeless Tropical stamp set and coordinating In the Tropics Dies.
Here is the card using Coastal Cabana, Blushing Bride, Real Red, and Shaded Spruce.
I used a Coastal Cabana card base. The hibiscus flowers are stamped with Real Red on Blushing Bride cardstock. I put the flowers on dimensionals. The leaves were stamped with Shaded Spruce ink on Shaded Spruce cardstock. The greeting is stamped with Real Red. I use a Mango Medley Stampin’ Write marker to color in the center of the flowers. I added a bit of linen thread and some a Clear Epoxy Droplets to finish the card.
I took a step outside of my comfort zone, and it didn’t hurt a bit! I hope today’s post provides you GREATINKSPIRATIONS!
Until next time....
Stamp Happy!
