WHALE OF A TIME
THANK YOU CARDS THAT ARE TONS OF FUN
Do you need a quick thank you card? Or card for any occasion? Why not give this tent topper card a try? It is super easy, and just a little different from the average card. Ready to learn how to make the tent topper card? Of course you can use any stamp set, cardstock, DSP, etc. Today I am using the Whale Done stamp set with the coordinating Whale Builder punch.
I will focus on the card shown above, but the basic structure of both cards is the same. Here are the other items I used to make the card
The Pretty Peacock card base is 81/2” x 4 1/4” scored at 4 1/4” to make a square card. A piece of DSP (from the Whale of A Time collection) is cut at 4” x 4”. I used scraps of Pretty Peacock to punch out the whale shape, and die cut the scalloped circle. I use a scrap of DSP to die cut the circle. I also used a bit of Pretty Peacock and another scarab of DSP for the greeting which I stamped with Pretty Peacock ink. I also used a scrap of vellum I colored with a Pool Party (dark) Stampin’ Blend to use for the whale’s spray. The dies used are the largest scalloped circle from the Layering Circle Dies, the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies, and the smallest and widest die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. To hold the cards pieces together I used Stampin’ Seal (liquid glue will work as well), Mini Glue Dots, and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To assemble the card:
Punch a Whale from the DSP, or stamp a whale using Pretty Peacock ink and punch it out. Punch out a whale from a scrap of the Pretty Peacock. Adhere the DSP whale and the cardstock whale together using Stampin’ Seal. The cardstock on the back of the DSP helps keep the DSP whale a bit more sturdy. Color the vellum and punch the whale “spray from it. Then on a piece of Whisper White cardstock Punch out the spray again. Using a glue dot adhere the vellum to the cardstock.
Die cut your stitched circle and scallop circle pieces. Stamp the greeting on the lighter part of the DSP, and die cut with the stitched rectangle die. Cut a piece of Pretty Peacock 1 7/8” x. 1 3/8” to mat the sentiment.
Adhere the stitched circle to the scalloped circle. Ahh Erie the sentiment to the Pretty Peacock mat. Adhere the DSP layer to the card base. Apply adhesive to the lower half of the circle layer, and center it along the top of the card making certain the total height / length of the card will be 5 1/2”. Place your whole on the circle (the tent topper) using dimensionals. Cut dimensionals to fit the back of the water spray, and situate those pieces over the whale’s water spout. Situate the sentiment on the right side of the card toward the bottom. (I put two pieces of the Old Olive/ Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon oh the back side of the sentiment.) If you like use a bit of Wink of Stella on the water and along the underside of the whale. The card is complete.
I hope this post has provided you with greatinkspirations!
Until next time...
