EASY CHRISTMAS CARDS WITH DSP BACKGROUNDS!

DSP + SNOW WONDER = GREAT CARDS!

Autumn has officially arrrived! The autumnal equinox occurred yesterday at 9:30 AM Eastern Time, but when it comes to the arrival of seasons I am an old school type of person. As far as I am concerned autumn (AKA fall) began on September 21. Winter will begin on December 21, spring on March 21, and summer returns on June 21, 2021!

I love all four seasons. It is impossible for me to choose a favorite as there are aspects of each I enjoy, and aspects of each I could do without! I look forward to Autumn, because the cooler evenings are perfect for soup suppers and a cozy fire in our fireplace! Another thing I like about fall is decorating around the house and the porch with the gourds and pumpkins we grew, the fodder shocks we will make from our corn stalks - and before too long we will carve the jack-o-lantern! When it comes to eating, autumn is my season! Bring on anything pumpkin, apple or cranberry! Yum!!! But what I like most about fall is I still have time to finish my Christmas cards well before the Holiday Season begins, and that is always my goal! Do I always accomplish it? With the exception of one or two years, yes!

Today I thought I would share a couple of Christmas cards which are relatively easy to make. To make these cards I used the Snow Wonder Bundle (Stampin’ Up!®️ August - December 2020 Mini Catalog - page 39), and  DSP from two collections. The Flowers Every Season (Annual Catalog page 11 & 148) and Feels Like Frost (Mini Catalog page 42). Both DSP collections are 48 doubled sided sheets - 4 each of 12 double-sided designs and are you 6”x 6”.

Here is a picture of the stamp set. The bundle includes the matching dies.

Here are the cards I made:

This card uses a Thick Whisper White card base that is 4 1/4” x 11” scored and folded at 5 1/2”. I cut the DSP at 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” and covered the front of the card base with it.  I stamped the snowman on Whisper White cardstock (regular weight) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added just a touch of color to the snowman with Smoky Slate (light), Real Red (light), Mint Macaron (dark), and Pumpkin Pie (dark) Stampin’ Blends. I stamped the greeting on the same DSP, just on the reverse side. I used the dies to cut out the snowman and the greeting. I adhered the greeting to a 1/4” wide x 3 3/8” long piece of silver foil sheet. I flagged the ends using my scissors. The greeting is popped up on dimensionals. The snowman is covered with 2 Coats I’d Wink of Stella. He is very shimmery in real life. He is also popped up on dimensionals. I added 3 of the clear Elegant Faceted gems to the card for a bit more sparkle.

This is the sheet of DSP  I used for this card.

The second card is  similar to the first. The layout is identical. I used a different greeting and another die from the Snow Time Dies that coordinate with the Snow Wonder stamp set.

The card base is also Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 11” scored and folded at 5 1/2”. The DSP is cut at 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” and adhered to the front of the card base. The snowman is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends - Cherry Cobbler (dark), Just Jade (light), Pumpkin Pie (dark), Seaside Spray (dark and light). I went over the entire snowman’s body with Wink of Stella twice. I stamped the greeting on Whisper White regular cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink. I die cut the snowman and the greeting, then popped them up on dimensionals. I added two Misty Moonlight enamel dots from the 2020-21 In Color Enamel Dots (Annual Catalog page 158).

I hope these cards provide you with greatinkspirations!
