TINSEL TIME THURSDAY
CARD # 5
Freezin’ Fun & Herringbone Technique
Welcome to week 5 of Tinsel Time Thursday. Today I have a fun, and very cute card to share with you, and a card made using a leftover piece from the featured card. Today’s card uses an impressive background technique that is truly very easy! So let’s take a look at the card!
This card uses the Freezin’ Fun Bundle. It is found on page 69 of the Stampin’ Up!®️ August- December 2020 Mini Catalog. The sentiment is from the Warm & Toasty stamp set (page 42 of the mini catalog).
Here are the supplies I used to make this card.
Adhesive Sheets, dimensionals, Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Glue.
To make the card -
Stamp the seal image on Whisper White with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Add color to the seal with the Stampin’ Blends.Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White with Pool Party ink.
Stamp the ice image with Versa Mark on vellum, and cover with the white embossing powder, and heat set using a heat tool. Color the back side of the ice with the Pool Party (dark) Stampin’ Blend.
Die cut the seal and ice with the Freezin’ Friends Dies, and use the die from the Tasteful Labels Dies to cut out the greeting.
Begin assembling the herringbone design for the background piece. Cover the Balmy Blue cardstock with the adhesive sheet. If some of the adhesive does not stay on the cardstock use a bit of Stamping Seal to fill in those spaces. Now place one strip diagonally across the cardstock. Then place one strip on either side of the center strip as shown in the picture. You have created 4 areas to fill in - two smaller ones, and two a bit larger.
Next die cut the herringbone background piece using the 3rd largest die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies placing the die in the center of the herring bone piece. You will have your background piece and a frame. Die cut the Pacific Point cardstock with the 2nd larges Stitched Rectangles Dies
Center and adhere the herringbone background piece to the Pacific Point mat. Then adhere this piece to the Pool Party card base. Take about 18” of the ribbon, tie it around the front of the card, and tie it in a bow toward the top of the card.
Adhere the seal, and the card is finished!
Remember the the herringbone frame I saved. I used it with more stamps and dies from the Freezin’ Fun Bundle to create this card.
For cards using the herringbone technique in more traditional Christmas colors (Real Red, Mossy Meadow, and Whisper White), I used the Heartwarming Hugs and the Snow Wonder Bundle (both found in the mini catalog) to make these cards:
That is it for today! Next week’s project will feature the Wishes and Wonder Bundle (mini catalog page 32).
Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
