TINSEL TIME THURSDAY

 TINSEL TIME THURSDAY

CARD # 10

Today’s card features the Tree Angel stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!®️ August-December 2020 Mini Catalog.

This stamp set reminds me of a stamp set from 2009 called Patterned Pines. Some of you might remember it. If not here is a look:

I made a lot of Christmas cards with this set the year it came out, and made several with it since. I really liked the simplicity of the main image (trees). As much as I enjoyed creating cards with Patterned Pines (and I still do), Tree Angle is more versatile as it includes sentiments, it is photopolymer and includes some Two - Step Stampin’®️ images. Tree Angle coordinates with the Stitched Rectangles Dies found in the annual catalog on page 179.

Here is a look at a landscape version of today’s card:

And here is the portrait version of the card:

And here is the inside of the portrait oriented card

This is what I used to make the cards:

Card base: Just Jade cut at 4 1/4” x 11”; scored and folded at 5 1/2”.

Whisper White cardstock - 5 3/8” x 4 1/8” for mat on front of card, and the circle for the focal image will be cut from the center of this. Another piece of Whisper White cut at 3 3/4” x 5” for the inside of the card, and one last piece of Whisper White for stamping images.

A scrap of Just Jade cardstock for stamping.

A piece of DSP that is 4” x 5 1/4”  and one that is 3/4” x 3 3/4”  The DSP I used is from the ‘Tis the Season 6x6 DSP. (Page 31 of the Aug- Dec Mini Catalog)

Real Red and Just Jade Classic Stampin’ Ink.

From the Stitched Shapes Dies - the largest circle die, from the Stitched Rectangles Dies - the rectangle that measures 1 1/8” x 2 1/2”. From the Stitched Triangles Dies - the equilateral triangle (same length on all three sides) that is about 1 3/4” long on each side; the isosceles that measures 1 1/4” on the bottom x 2 1/8” On the two equal sides, and the isosceles triangle that measures and 1 5/8” x 2 7/8”.

I used some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels- 3 per card.  (annual catalog page 156), and Real Red Braided Linen Trim - about 17” per card.  (mini catalog page 9).

Stampin’ Seal or adhesive of your choice, glue dots (to hold ribbon in place), and dimensionals.

Here are instructions for making the card:

Cut a circle from the center of the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Shapes circle die.

Using Real Red ink stamp the “Happy wishes to you and yours” on the 3 3/4” x 5” piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp it centered on the paper, but remember to adjust for the  3/4” space for the DSP strip at the top of the cardstock for the portrait version of the card, and on the left hand side of the cardstock for the landscape version of the card. On the scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock use the Real Red ink and stamp the two tree images and the “Joy and Cheer” sentiment. Switching to the Just Jade ink stamp the leaves image around the poinsettia image you just stamped with the real red. On the scrap of Just Jade cardstock Stamp the largest tree, and three of the tree trunk images.  On the circle die cut from the Whisper White card layer, stamp a small dot image inside stitching. I used an image from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set, there are similar images in the following stamp sets: The Right Triangle, Seaside Notions, Waterfront, Whale Done, Nature’s Beauty, Merry Moose, and Festive Post has a stamp that is tiny stars - that would work nicely as well.

Die cut the three trees using their matching Stitched Rectangle Dies. Die cut the Joy and Cheer with the Stitched Rectangles die.

Fussy cut the tree trunks extending the length of the image at one end. The trunk will be adhered to the tree bu placing adhesive on the extended area of cardstock above the trunk.

Assemble the layers of the card. The cardstock with the center removed will serve as a mat for the DSP. Once those two pieces are together, adhere them to the card front.

Adhere the strip of DSP to the 3 3/4” x 5” Whisper White cardstock. Adhere ‘this panel to the inside of the card.

Adhere the two smaller trees to the die cut circle with Stampin’ Seal. Use the photograph of the card as a guide for placement. Use dimensionals to adhere the Just Jade tree to the die cut circle. Place dimensionals on the back of your focal piece  the die cut circle with the tres adhered to it. Before adding the focal piece to the card, place Stampin’ Seal on the back of the Joy and Cheer sentiment pieces and place it on the card. Now add your focal piece.

Tie the braided linen trim around the card and tie  in a bow. Add the rhinestones, and the card is finished.

Thank yo for joining me for Tinsel Time Thursday. Check back next Thursday when the card will feature the Winter Woods stamp set.

Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
