WATERCOLOR WASH -A QUICK AND EASY BACKGROUND

 SPECIAL SOMEONE

WITH A WATERCOLOR WASH

A watercolor wash background is a quick and easy way to give you cards a little extra something without a lot of fuss. It is so easy with Stampin’ Up!®️ products, like the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (annual catalog - page 153) and the Water Painters (annual catalog - page 147).

So how do you create a watercolor wash background? Simply cut your watercolor paper to size - either the size needed for the card panel, or a little larger allowing for the panel to be cut to size after the wash is complete. Next decide on what you will use for the color(s). You can use, the Classic Stampin’ Pads, Stampin’ Write Markers, or Stampin’ Ink Refills. Simple add the color to an acrylic block and you are set! Watercolor pencils are also an option. You can choose to use one color or multiple colors for your background. Next you will need some water and some way to mix the water with the ink, and move the ink around the paper. Some prefer to use a water color paint brush, and many of you might have the Aqua Painters, but for today’s project I used the Stampin’ Up! Water Painters - specifically the large flat brush tip!  I tapped my Balmy Blue ink pad onto an acrylic block, then simple squeezed the brush’s water reservoir a bit to get the water flowing. I picked got some ink on the brush.   Next I moved the brush back and forth across the paper, adding more ink or water to the brush as needed. I continued the process until I was satisfied with the results. Once the the background is complete, allow time for it to dry completely. If you are impatient like I am, use a heat tool to dry the panel. The background is ready to be used on your card or other project.

Here is the card I made using a watercolor wash background and the stamp set, Special Someone:

Here is a look at the Special Someone stamp set. It is on page 93 of the annual catalog. The coordinating Special Day Dies are found on page182.

I hope you will give a watercolor wash background a try, and I hope my card provides you with greatinkspirations!
