TINSEL TIME THURSDAY CARD # 14

 A LITTLE BIT RETRO!

Welcome to Tinsel Time Thursday! Here is the card for this week:

This card was made using the Don’t Stop Believin’ Stamp Set (Santa Claus) from the Stampin’ Up!®️ August - December 2020 Mini Catalog.  The greeting is from Itty Bitty Christmas, and the little twinkle star image is from Nothing’s Better Than (both sets are in the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21 Annual catalog).

The first time I saw this stamp set the Santa Claus image reminded me of the  Santa on a Christmas card my family received when I was a young girl (early 1960’s). That particular card found a home on my dresser! I really liked it! The last time I remember seeing the card was a few months prior to my high school graduation when I was going through my keepsakes. I decided to try and reproduce the card, or at least recreate my memory of the card! I think the original card had sheer red ribbon as opposed to satin ribbon. The card base might have been a bit lighter than the Crumb Cake I used.

Here are the supplies needed to make my A Little Bit Retro Card:

A Crumb Cake card base cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, scored and folded at 4 1/4”.
A piece of DSP from the Heart Warming Hugs collection that is about 5 1/4” x 4”. For mat layer.
A piece of Whisper White cardstock that is about 4 3/4” x 3 1/2” for the focal image.
A scrap piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that is at least 3” x 1”.

Crumb Cake and Real Red ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Stampin’ Blends - Real Red (combo), Petal Pink (light), Flirty Flamingo (light), So Saffron (light), and Wink of Stella.

Stitched Rectangles Dies that measure - 4 3/8” x 3 1/8”, 4 7/8” x 3 1/2”, and 3” x 1”.
Real Red Double - Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Stampin’ Seal (or adhesive of choice), Dimensionals, Glue Dots.

To assemble the card:

Stamp the Santa image on the Whisper White cardstock with the Memento ink. Position Santa More toward the bottom of the cardstock.  Stamp the greeting on the scrap of Crumb Cake using Real Red ink

Color the Santa image with the Stampin’ Blends. The Real Red (combo) for the hat, gloves, and suit. Use the Petal Pink (light) for his face. Use a bit of Flirty Flamingo for Santa’s cheeks, lip, and a bit on his nose. Use the brush tip (on its side) of the So Saffron (light) Stampin’ Blend to add color around Santa. It is fine if there are a few white areas here and there. Put Wink of Stella on the fur on Santa’s hat and suit.

Now die cut the Santa image with the 4 7/8” x 3 1/2” Stitched Rectangles Dies.
Die cut the DSP with the 4 3/8” x 3 1/8” Stitched Rectangles Dies.
Die cut the sentiment smallest die (3” x 1”).

Use the little twinkle star die and Crumb Cake ink to stamp a few little stars around Santa. Also stamp a few of the images around the sentiment.

Cut a 22” piece of the ribbon, and tie it around the card in a bow. Place a glue dot under the bow’s knot to keep the bow in place.
.

Now center the focal piece between the right edge of the card, and the ribbon.

Use dimensionals to attach the sentiment to the card, using the photo above as a placement guide. The card is finished.

Thank you for joining me this week as I took a stroll down memory lane! I hope you enjoyed the A Little Bit Retro Card, and it has provided you with greatinkspirations!

Next week’s card uses the Festive Corners and the Tree Angle stamp sets, and the Stitched Triangles Dies.

Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
