TINSEL TIME THURSDAY WEEK 19

Hi Stampers! Welcome to the last installment of Tinsel Time Thursday! Over the last 18 weeks I have shared ideas for Christmas cards. Today’s post is a bit different. Instead of a card I will share some ideas for tags. Of course gifts need tags, but you can also give tags (for Christmas and other gift giving occasions) as gifts!

I have three groups of tags to share with you today. Two groups I made with a specific stamp set and it’s coordinating punch. The last group of tags I made from left over die cuts I had accumulated over the past few months! So.... let’s take a look at the tags.

For the first group of tags I used the Snowman Season stamp set and the Snowman Builder punch. Both products can be found in the Stampin’ Up!®️ 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

Here are the tags. As you can see I made a couple different versions.

To make the basic snowman gift tag I stamped the snowman image on Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used Stampin’ Blends to color the nose (Pumpkin Pie -dark), the cheeks (Flirty Flamingo - light), and a bit of shading (Pool Party - light). I punched it out and also punched out another snowman shape from Whisper White cardstock. On this punched snowman I stamped the to/from with Balmy Blue ink. I punched out arms from Crumb Cake cardstock. I added Stampin’ Seal + to the backside of the stamped snowman. I attached the arms from the back. I also attached a piece of white baker’s twine (folded in half to form a loop - the two cut ends pressed into the adhesive). The baker’s twine is no longer available, but you could substitute linen thread or the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon - or if you crochet white cotton crochet thread  is great for tags. Next I lined up the two snowman images, and pressed them together! For the snowmen with hats I just punched out two hats and adhered them on top of the snowman’s head. One hat was just punched from Basic Black cardstock. The other version was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers, and punched out. It was just that easy to make the cute snowman tags.

For the next group of tags I used the Festive Post stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! August - December 2020 Mini Catalog, and the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch from the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21 Annual Catalog.

Here is one tag I made using these products:

For this tag I used Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake cardstock, and a piece of Plaid Tidings DSP. I also used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies - the rectangular one that measures about 3 1/8” x 2” to cut a piece of  Crumb Cake cardstock and the DSP. I adhered these two pieces together, and stamped the to / from on the Crumb Cake side. I cut a piece of Merry Merlot cardstock at 2 1/4” x 1 5/8”, and a piece of Crumb Cake at 2 3/8” x 1 3/4”.  I stamped the reindeer with Merry Merlot ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. I stamped a few snowflakes around the reindeer with Merry Merlot , but I stamped off once on scrap paper, then stamped the image on the Crumb Cake.  I punched out this image with the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch.  The image was mounded on the Merry Merlot then mounted on Crumb Cake. I put dimensionals on the back of this piece and adhered it to the main piece of the tag. I punched a hole in the top of the tag, and cut a piece of linen thread about 8” long, doubled it, and loped it through the hole. He tag is finished!

Here is another tag I made with the same stamp set and punch:

I originally made this tag in July as a part of the mini catalog sneak peek post (July 18 post). I used Real Red and Whisper White cardstock, and ‘Tis the Season DSP. I used the Stitched Nested Labels Dies - the one that measures 4 1/2” long from point to point. For ink I used Smoky Slate, Old Olive, and Real Red. The tie is the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon dyed with the Shaded Spruce (dark) Stampin’ Blend. The piece of DSP is cut at 2 1/4” x 1 5/8”.  The tag is assembled in the same manner as the reindeer tag.

The last group of tags I made using left over die cuts from past products. Here they are:

I really like this tag. It is clean  and simple. The stamped image is from the Wishes and Wonder stamp set. it is stamped with Green Garden ink, die cut and adhered to a Whisper White die cut (Stitched Shapes Dies - second largest circle) with dimensionals. The ribbon is the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

These tags are similar. The white and silver tag features the Feels Like Frost DSP, and the reindeer is die cut from a piece of silver foil sheet using the North Pole Wonder Dies. The Old Olive Tag features the same die cut reindeer, but cut from a piece of gold foil sheet. The DSP is from the Ornate Garden collection. The mats and tag base were die cut with the Layering Circle Dies.

This tag is quite pretty in person. I started out with a 2” x 6” piece of Plaid Tidings DSP. I put adhesive on the side of the DSP I did not want seen, folded it in half, and pressed. I took a 2” x 3” piece of vellum and embossed it with the dotted pattern Wrapped In Texture embossing folder. I adhered i5 to the front of the tag - I placed the adhesive where I knew the tree would cover it up. The tree was punched from a piece of green foil sheet using the Pine Tree punch. It is attached to the tag with dimensionals.

Here is the back of the tag. The tree image is from the Festive Post stamp set. I think the back of this tag could stand alone as a tag.

I made this tag from a “failed” project, or at least a project that did not turn out the way I hoped! I used the Stitched triangle Dies to die cut a series of frames, then vellum and cardstock triangles to layer behind the frames. I adhered the triangles in the shape of a Christmas tree, and that is where the project ended! So, I attached a tie made of the gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack, and added a few red and green enamel dots (retired item) to create a “whimsical” tag.

Here are the tags I made with leftover die cuts:

And here are the tags I created  with stamp sets and coordinating punches.

Well.... that is it.! This wraps up the Tinsel Time Thursday series. I hope the cards and these tags have provided you with greatinkspirations!

Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
