USE THE NEW HORIZONS DSP TO CREATE A PRETTY COLLECTION OF CARDS PERFECT FOR GIFTING!

Hi Stampers!

In past posts I mentioned “letting the designer series paper (DSP) do the work.” Today’s cards are great examples of DSP being the star of the show, making the cards go together in no time! For the cards I used the NEW HORIZONS DSP. The collection is beautiful! The paper is part of the NEW HORIZONS SUITE featured in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ JANUARY-JUNE 2022 MINI CATALOG. Let’s take a look at the cards and take a peek at the DSP.

NEW HORIZONS DSP

As you can see I made a set of note cards and a box to put them in. This set of cards is perfect for gift giving! I like using the note cards for card making. Have you tried them. They come in a package of 20 with envelopes, the note cards are prescored, and they are mailable (in the US).

SIMPLY PRETTY NOTE CARDS

I really like the way the cards turned out. All I did was stamp a greeting on the DSP, mat the DSP, and adhere it to a note card! The card with the floral images toward the bottom was so pretty I did not put a greeting on the outside of the card. I stamped “Happy Birthday” on the inside. Many times when using the note cards I mount a focal panel on a Basic Black mat, and stamp the greeting with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. For these I switched things up. I used darker cardstock colors for the mats; Night of Navy, Evening Evergreen, and Blackberry Bliss. I used the corresponding ink colors to stamp the greetings. Here is the basic list of supplies you will need to create the note cards:

SUPPLIES
* 6 note cards and envelopes
* 6 pieces of NEW HORIZONS DSP each cut at 3 1/4” x 4 3/4”
* 6 mats (2 in Night of Navy, 2 in Evening Evergreen, 2 in Blackberry Bliss) cut at 3 3/8” x 4 7/8”
* Inks (Night of Navy, Evening Evergreen, and Blackberry Bliss) to stamp greetings
* Greetings stamps of choice
* Adhesive

BOX FOR NOTE CARDS

This is a simple box I made to hold the note cards. I really like this specific piece of DSP. It reminds me of when we lived in Alaska. I look at it and see a village along the coast during the winter. The mountains are in the background, and there is even a bit of alpenglow. There is no place like Alaska in the winter! Actually, there is no place like Alaska no matter the season! Okay, back to the cards and the gift box.

The box is just a basic box decorated with the DSP, a bit of Misty Moonlight Baker’s Twine, and a greeting.

SUPPLIES
* DSP cut at 5 1/4” x 3 3/4”
* Baker’s Twine - about 26” (wrap tine around DSP and tie in a bow on front side - tape down twine on back side of DSP). Stamp the greeting and adhere this piece to the box top.
* Box Top - Night of Navy cardstock cut at 7 5/16”  (tiny hash mark right after the 7 1/4” mark on Stampin’ Paper Trimmer) x 5 13/16 ( tiny hash mark after the 5 3/4” mark score this piece of cardstock at 1” all around. At the corners cut one score line on each from the outside of the cardstock to the 1” score line to create a flap. Miter the edges of the corner  flaps. Use a strong adhesive (Stampin’ Seal +, Tear & Tape, etc) to adhere corners together and form box top.
* Box Bottom - Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut at 7 1/4 x 5 3/4”, scored at 1” on all sides. Assemble in same manner as box top.
* Night of Navy ink to stamp greeting
* Greeting stamp
* Adhesive, strong adhesive to assemble box, tape to hold twine in place.

Instead of creating a box, you can decorate one of the mini paper pumpkin boxes. The note cards fit inside perfectly. Check out my 7 December 2021 post HERE. To see more information about the mini paper pumpkin boxes click HERE.

I think this set of note cards will be a great gift for many occasions. A gift of handmade cards is always welcome.

Thank you for stopping by today. Until next time…
