WHITE & GOLD, A CLASSIC COMBINATION FOR HOLIDAY CARDS - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

Hi Stampers!

Today’s cards are white with gold. This classic color combination is perfect for Christmas cards. It is elegant and festive. So grab some white cardstock and gold speciality papers(glitter, glimmer, shimmer, foil, etc.), gold embossing powder, gold ink, gold watercolor, gold embellishments. . . whatever you have, and let’s make some cards. Don’t have any gold supplies? Any metallic color will make a festive card. No metallics? No problem. How about red or green or blue glitter, glimmer, shimmer, or foil paper? Maybe you have patterned paper with foil elements. None of those? No problem. Use your favorite color of cardstock or your favorite patterned paper, and ink. Clear Wink of Stella over colored cardstock adds a nice shimmer.  I have put gold ink on an acrylic block, added a bit of water with a paint brush, loaded my brush with the mixture, held my brush over cardstock, gently hit the brush wit a bone folder or pencil, and created pretty gold spattered cardstock for die cutting. The same can be done with gold water colors. The options are endless! No matter the colors or supplies used, your cards will still be festive and appreciated by the recipient! Let’s take a look at my sample cards.

WHITE & GOLD, A CLASSIC COMBINATION FOR HOLIDAY CARDS

EMBOSSED ORNAMENTS CARD

BASIC SUPPLIES GOR THIS CARD
* Card base - white cardstock cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* Gold glitter paper - 2 strips cut at 5 1/2” x 1/2” (adjust this to 3/4” each if your ornaments or other images, such as snowflakes, are smaller)
* Stamps - group of ornaments or other images and a greeting for outside and inside card
* Light colored ink (aqua, tan, etc), Versa Mark, gold embossing powder, embossing buddy or other antistatic tool, heat tool
* Hold or tan ink for inside greeting
* Adhesive

NOTE: I needed to stamp my grouping of ornaments three times for the design to span the width of the card. I could have stamped one image with the Versa Mark, sprinkled the embossing powder over it, heat set it, and repeated the process twice more. Instead I used a little technique that allowed me to see exactly where I was stamping, allowing me to stamp the image three times, add the embossing powder, heat set, and be done with it! It is easy! First go over the cardstock with the embossing buddy. Next ink the stamp with a light color of ink. I used Pool Party from Stampin’ Up!®️ (a light aqua color). Next ink the stamp with Versa Mark or other embossing ink. Stamp the image. Repeat the process twice more or until the images span the width of the card. Add the embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat set. You might see the light colored ink on the Versa Mark pad, but the pad will still work just fine for embossing.

ASSEMBLY
* Lay the card base out flat on your work surface (unfolded). Use scrap paper to protect the back piece of the card and the top 1/2 -3/4” of the card front. Use this mask as a straight edge and guide for stamping the images.
* Using the technique discussed above, stamp and emboss the images
* Stamp and emboss the greeting
* Stamp inside greeting
* Adhere strips of gold glitter paper along top and bottom of card front.

JOY TENT CARD

BASIC SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Card base - white cardstock cut at 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”
* Tent card mechanism - white cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 2” and scored along the 2” side at 1/2”, 1”, and
1 1/2”. Fold to form a “W.”
* Large JOY STAMP or 2” die cut letters J and Y
* Circle dies - 1 1/2” diameter and 2” diameter to form the O
* Joy to the World stamp plus greeting for back side of card
* Gold embossing powder, embossing ink (Versa Mark), and heat tool
* Die cut Christmas star -2
* Fishing line - clear, about 2-3”
* Gold pearl embellishments - 3
* Adhesive, double sided tape (adhesive sheets come in handy for the die cut letters and for the suspended element)

NOTE - MAKE IT YOUR OWN - If you prefer, die cut a window (circle, square, oval, etc) in the card front and frame it with a specialty paper. Instead of a star, add another element (an ornament, a snowflake, etc - symmetrical shapes are best). Add a gold embossed sentiment and embellishments.

ASSEMBLY
* Die cut the window. Place the window about 3/4”from the top of the card, centered from left to right.
* Die cut from gold glitter paper  or stamp and emboss with gold embossing powder, the J and the Y, die cut the frame that forms the O - adhere these to the card front.
* Stamp the greeting with Versa Mark, cover with gold embossing powder and set.
* Using gold ink or a light tan colored ink, stamp a greeting on the back side of the card
* Assemble the suspended element. Place adhesive in the back side of the two elements, or remove backing if using adhesive sheets. Place the fishing line on the adhesive from the top to near the bottom of one element. Place the other element on top, and press.
* Open the card and flip it to the back side (what would normally be the inside of the card).Place two strips of double sided tape above the die cut window. Remove the backing and center the element inside the die cut window. Press the fishing line into the tape. Place two or three strips of double sided tape over the others and press to seal the fishing line between the two layers of tspe. Do not remove the backing. Trim excess fishing line.
* Assemble the standing mechanism for the card. Place adhesive in the space between the 1/2” score line and the outer edge of the cardstock. Place this along the bottom edge of the back of the card front making sure the cut edge of the mechanism’s cardstock is pointing up toward the inside of the card. In other words, make sure this piece will form a W shape. Apply adhesive between the 1 1/2” score line and the outer edge of the piece. Place this along the bottom edge of the inner side of the back off the card.

VIDEO CARD

For this version of the JOY TENT CARD I die cut the letters J and Y from gold glimmer paper. The letter O was created using a 1 1/2” and a 2” circle die. I cut the circle from the card base with the 1 1/2” circle die.
