CORNER FLIP & FOLD CARD FEATURING THE FLOWERING CACTUS PRODUCT MEDLEY

 Hi Stampers!

Today I have two cards to share with you made using what I call the Corner Flip & Fold card, because after making two cuts the corner is flipped and folded. The card also features products from the FLOWERING CACTUS PRODUCT MEDLEY. This product medley is found in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ JANUARY - JUNE 2021 MINI CATALOG. Here are the cards:

Here is a look at the FLOWERING CACTUS stamp set and the coordinating dies.

The product medley includes the stamp set, dies, 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper, die cut felt sheets, and two spools of twine (Linen and Calypso Coral).

The card below was made by adhering the DSP to the card base, then making the cuts that allows the corner to flip. I adhered the flipped corner of the card to the front of the card with glue dots.

When the DSP is adhered to the card base prior to making the cuts you will see the DSP on the inside of the card. If the pattern on the paper is directional the DSP showing on the inside could be upside down or sideways. For this particular pattern the orientation of the DSP is not an issue.

If the pattern on the DSP is directional, and orientation is important there is a solution! Make the cuts needed to flip the corner on the cardstock card base. Next cut the DSP at 4” x 5 1/4”. Place the DSP in the trimmer with the 4” side along the top at 1”. Cut from the top down to the 3” mark. Remove from trimmer. Now place the DSP in the trimmer with the 5 1/4” side along the top at the 3” mark. Cut from the top down to the 3” mark. You should have a 3” square of DSP and a piece that resembles an “L” (sort of). With paper snips trim the upper right corner of the “L” shape with a diagonal cut. Next trim the lower right corner of the “L” shape with another diagonal cut. Adhere the DSP to the card front. The square of DSP can be adhered to the inside of the card. See the card samples below.

How to cut DSP for  the Corner Flip & Fold Card

CORNER FLIP & FOLD CARD VIDEO

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO CREATE THESE CARDS:

Flowering Cactus Product Medley
Cardstock cut at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4”
DSP cut at 5 1/4” x 4”
Piece of cardstock cut in 2 1/2” square to layer on card front.
Basic White or light colored cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4” for the inside of the card.
Basic White scraps for stamping and / or scraps of cardstock for die cutting.
Inks, bone folder, adhesives (* to adhere the felt die cuts I used the Tombow liquid glue)

TO CREATE THE CARDBASE:

Decide if you will make the cardbase withe the DSP adhered, or if the DSP will be adhered after creating the cardbase.

* Score the cardstock at 4 1/4” along the 8 1/2” side (do not fold)
* Place the cardstock in the paper trimmer with the 5 1/2” side along the top at the 3” mark. Make a cut from 5/8” to 3”.
* Turn the cardstock over and with the 8 1/2” side along the top - at the 3” mark cut from 5/8” to 3”.
* Fold the cardstock in half along the score line made at 4 1/4”.
* On the front of the card where the two cuts made meet to firm a corner, push toward the inside of the card.
* Now fold the piece over, and use a bone folder to burnish he fold.
* Stamp and / or die cut the focal pieces and adhere them to the 2 1/2” square piece of cardstock.
* Stamp the greeting.
* Adhere to the card front.
* Stamp a sentiment on the piece of cardstock that goes on the inside of the card. Add stamped images or die cut images if desired.
* Add the felt die cut embellishments using liquid adhesive.

I hope you give this card a try. Until next time...
Stamp Happy!

Kim
