Hi Stampers!
Today’s post focuses on the BASIC BORDERS DIES. These dies can be found in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. They are what I call “stand alone” dies, because they are not paired with a specific stamp set and are suitable for use with all stamp sets. These dies can be used for borders, of course, but they also make great accent pieces. This post contains sample cards and a video with more information about this set of dies. Let’s look at the dies:
BASIC BORDER DIES
SAMPLE CARD USING THE RICKRACK DIE
* BASIC White card base - 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”
* Poppy Parade cardstock for rickrack die
* Basic White cardstock for strawberries and leaves and greeting
* DSP - Pattern Party - 2 1/4” x 5 1/2”
* Inks: Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker, Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends (dark), Blender Pen
* White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon - about 18”
* Stitched So Sweetly Dies
* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals
ASSEMBLY
* Stamp the large floral and leaves image 3 times along the right side of the card base with Granny Apple Green ink. Use the Blender Pen to spread the ink out into the leaves. Fill in the center of the flowers using the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker.
* Stamp the strawberries, stems, and leaves (3 each). These images are 2 Step Stampin’ stamps. Punch out these images, and use adhesive to attach he stems to strawberries.
* Stamp the greeting in Poppy Parade ink. Die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Die.
* Dye the ribbon using the Poppy Parade (dark) Stampin’ Blend Marker.
* Die cut the rickrack piece using the Border Basics Die.
* Adhere the “rickrack” piece to the DSP. Adhere this piece to he left side of the card base.
* Tie the ribbon around the card front. Tie in a bow.Adhere he greeting using dimensionals. Attach the strawberry to the greeting, and tuck two leaves under the lower left corner of the greeting panel.
* Attach he remaining strawberries toward upper left side off the card. The top strawberry is attached with dimensionals.
LACY DIE CARDS
* Granny Apple Green card base cut at 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2.
* Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 2” plus Basic White for stamping flowers.
* Poppy Parade cardstock 5 1/2” x 1 - 1 1/2”
* Inks ~ Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker, Blender Pin
* Baker’s Twine about 28”
* Adhesive of choice and mini dimensionals
ASSEMBLY
* Stamp the Basic White cardstock as instructed above for the Basic White part of the card.
* Stamp 5 of the small flower images in Granny Apple Green on Basic White cardstock. Colo the centers with the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker, and punch out the flowers with the Strawberry Builder Zpunch.
* Use the lacy die and Poppy Parade to die cut the border.
* Adhere the poppy Parade border to the stamped Basic White cardstock. Adhere this piece to the cardbase.
* use mini dimensionals to attach the flowers atop some of the stamped flowers.
* Stamp the greeting in Granny Apple Green
* Wrap the twine around the card twice and tie it in a bow.
SCALLOPED STITCHED DIE CARD
* Granny Apple Green card base 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* Basic White cardstock 5 1/2” x 3 1/4”
* Inks - Granny Apple Green and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker, Blender Pen
* Adhesive
ASSEMBLY;
* Stamp the Basic White cardstock as for the previous two cards.
* Use the scalloped stitched border die to add the scalloped border to the stamped piece.
* Adhere the piece to the card base.
*. Stamp the greeting with the Granny Apple Green ink.
* Bumblebee card base scored 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”
* DSP - Pattern Party5 3/8” x 4 1/8”
* Basic White cardstock 5 3/8” x 2 1/4” (for inside -adhere to left side of the DSP)
* Inks - Bumblebee and Night of Navy
* Baker’s Twine, about 18” (I used Night of Navy from the Jan- June mini, but as of today it is retired.)
* Days to Remember stamp set (star image)
* Adhesive
ASSEMBLY:
* Place the center of the arced die about 1” from the edge of the card front and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
* Using the Bumblebee ink stamp the greeting repeatedly on the card front.
* Stamp the stars with Night of Navy ink.
* Adhere the DSP piece to the inside of the card.
* Wrap the twine around the card front two - three times and tie in a bow.
* Bumblebee card base
* Granny Apple Green cardstock and Basic White cardstock
* Designer Series Paper - 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” and Basic White 5 1/2” x 2 1/4” adhered to the left side of the DSP.
* White baker’s twine - about 35”
* Ink - Bumblebee
* Adhesive and dimensionals
* Layering Circles Dies
ASSEMBLY:
* Stamp the greeting and flower images with the Bumblebee ink on Basic White cardstock.
* Punch out the smaller flowers and fussy cut the larger ones or if you have the retired small blossoms punch you can punch them out.
* Place the point of the die at the center of the card front edge about 1” away from the edge and die cut.
* Die cut the greeting and the Granny Apple Green mat with the Layering Circles Dies.
* Adhere the greeting to its mat. adhere the flowers around the greeting. Attach the piece to the card base with dimensionals.
* Wrap the twine around the card about 3 times and tie in a bow.
* Adhere the DSP piece to the inside of the card.
