LEARN AN EASY WAY TO PLACE MULTIPLE DIE CUT IMAGES EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT THEM!

 Hi Stampers,

Today I want to share a super easy way to adhere multiple die cut, punched, or fussy cut images exactly where you want the for great focal images.

Each of the cards pictured above feature focal images that are punched or die cut. Once all my images for a card were punched out or die cut, I placed them exactly where I wanted them on the focal panel (patterned paper). Once the images were where I wanted them, it was time to adhere the pieces to the focal panel. This requires moving each piece to place adhesive on the back side, and attempting to put the pieces back in place. Sometimes that is more difficult to do than it seems. A super easy way to lift those pieces off the panel, apply adhesive, and put them back exactly the way you arranged them is to use an easy to come by food storage product -Press’n Seal. You can find this product along side plastic wrap in places such as Walmart, Target, and most grocery stores. An alternative to Press’n Seal is washi tape or a very low tack tape; however there is a risk of the tape pulling off some of the cardstock image.

Watch the video tutorial below to see how easy this Press’n Seal technique is, and to view the downside of using washi tape.

I use it fairly often and still have over 1/2 of a roll remaining. A roll of 70 square feet retails for about $3.50 at Walmart in my area (Southeastern Indiana). It is a handy item for your craft space!

THE BASICS OF BASIC BORDERS DIES

 Hi Stampers!

Today’s post focuses on the BASIC BORDERS DIES. These dies can be found in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. They are what I call “stand alone” dies, because they are not paired with a specific stamp set and are suitable for use with all stamp sets. These dies can be used for borders, of course, but they also make great accent pieces. This post contains sample cards and a video with more information about this set of dies. Let’s look at the dies:

Here are some cards I made using the BASIC BORDERS DIES:

CATALOG INSPIRATION - A CARD LAYOUT THAT GOES TOGETHER IN NO TIME

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a great card layout to share with you. It comes from the Stampin’ Up! 2020 - 21 Annual Catalog. (Check out page 41 of the catalog - card on top right.) I like this layout, because it goes together quickly, it is adaptable, and it looks great every time. I used this layout for two cards found in my March 19, 2021 post.  Here are those cards:

Here is my version of the basic card layout;

Below are the measurements for each piece.

For my version of this card, the 1” x 2 3/4” piece for the greeting can be adjusted to fit your chosen greeting. On the cards I made specifically for this post the greetings were smaller, so I used the 1” x 2 3/4” piece of cardstock as a mat for the greeting.

For today’s first card I used the SWEET STRAWBERRY stamp set (mini catalog).

SWEET STRAWBERRY

This card features a Melon Mambo  card base, the mat is from the ARTISTRY BLLOMS DSP (annual catalog), and was stamped with Melon Mambo ink. I stamped. The berries and stems on the same DSP using Melon Mambo and Garden Green inks. The berries and stems were punch from the DSP using the Berry Builder Punch.  The ribbon is the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon dyed the Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blend (light). The berries and the greeting pieces are attached to the card with dimensionals.

I made one more card using this layout. For this card I used the SNAILED IT stamp set and the matching SNAIL DIES (mini catalog).

SNAILED IT

Here is the card!

The card base is Bermuda Bay. The DSP is from SNAIL MAIL collection. The “hello” mat is Coastal  Cabana. I colored the snail with Stampin’ Blends. I wrapped the white twine around the cardstock piece 3 times. I taped the twine it to the back to hold the twine in place.

I hope you give this card layout a try.
Until next time...

CREATING A BASIC Z FOLD CARD

 Hi Stampers!

When it comes to card making there are all types of folds; fun folds...fancy folds...and even some nameless folds. My all time favorite folds are Z Folds. In general Z Fold Cards are easy to assemble, they look great when kept simple or when all dressed up. There are several versions of Z Fold Cards, and some can be modified a bit to create yet another version of a Z Fold Card. Many Z Fold Cards can be constructed in portrait and landscape orientations. Z Fold Cards offer endless possibilities for creative card making.

Let’s take a look at the Basic Z Fold Card in both the landscape and portrait orientations.

I made this basic Z Fold Card in under 15 minutes!  It features the TIMELESS TUILIPS stamp set (annual catalog) and the FLOWER & FIELD DSP (SAB Brochure). The card base is Shaded Spruce, and the mats are Basic White. I used Shaded Spruce and Flirty Flamingo inks. I also used the Stitched Shapes Dies - Ovals (annual catalog).

The basic Z Fold Card is simply a card base (either 4 1/4” x 11” or 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”) folded in half as though making a regular card. Next fold the front of the card in half from the right side to the left. That is all there is to it! If you like, add layers as you would for any other card. The focal piece can be added on the card’s front panel. I like to off set mine a bit as you can see in the card below. I simply put adhesive on the back of the left side of the focal piece, and adhere to the card front.

If you prefer to use measurements to make the Basic Z Fold Card (landscape orientation), here you go!
The card base is 4 1/4” x 11” scored at 2 3/4” and at 5 1/5”. To fold the card begin at the 2 3/4” score line with a mountain fold. At the 5 1/2” score line make a valley fold.

Here is a Z Fold Card I made in portrait orientation. I used a Poppy Parade card base, Basic White mats, and Mossy Meadow for the strawberry stems. I also used the BERRY DELIGHTFUL DSP (SAB Brochure). The strawberries and sentiment are from the SWEET STRAWBERRY stamp set (mini catalog). I used the STRAWBERRY BUILDER PUNCH to punch out the strawberries and the stems. The inside sentiment is from the BERRY BLESSINGS stamp set (SAB brochure). I used Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade inks.

This version of the BASIC Z FOLD CARD is folded just like the landscape version. It takes a piece of cardstock that measures 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”. Fold it in half. Then fold the front of the card in half from right to left.  Below is a chart showing measurements and score lines.

If you have never created a Z FOLD CARD. Why not give it a try?

That is all for today, Stampers. Until next time...

PULL & SLIDE VALENTINE CARD

 Hi, Stampers!

Valentine’s Day is coming up, so I thought I’d make a couple of fun cards to share. The cards were created using the SNAILED IT stamp set, the coordinating SNAIL DIES, and the cute RESIN HEART EMBELLISHMENTS! (Stampin’ Up!®️January - June 2021 Mini Catalog) I also used the HEARTFELT stamp set along wit the coordinating HEART PUNCH PACK. (Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog)

Here are the cards.

And, here are the stamp sets!

The cards are what I call mechanical cards, because they move. I call this card the PULL & SLIDE CARD! I have heard it referred to as a slider card and a pull tab card.

Here is the cute snail card”closed.” The snail is popped up on dimensionals. The Happy Valentine’s heart is held in place with Stampin’ Seal. It is important whatever is placed on the right side of the card be kept as flat as possible to allow the slider part of the card to pass over it!

Here is the snail card “opened.” The blank space on the pull out panel  can be used to write a short  message.

Here is the Heartfelt card. The Happy Valentine’s heart is attached with dimensionals. The white hearts were cut with dies from the SNAIL DIES. The “Love You Lots” sentiment is embossed. The two largest hearts on the Happy Valentine’s Heart are the Resin Hearts.

Here is what the card looks like opened. Before sending this card I will use a white gel pen to write my name inside the heart on the left side of the card.

Instead of using cardstock for the card base you can use DSP (designer series paper). For this card I used the BERRY DELIGHTFUL DSP & the BERRY BLESSINGS stamp set (Sale-a-bration Brochure), and the SWEET STRAWBERRY stamp set (Stampin’ Up! January - June 2021 Mini Catalog).

Here is the care open.  When using DSP you want to pay attention to directional patterns.

As you can see there is not much room to right a message on the pulled out portion of the card. The solution- add a piece of  3 3/4” x 5” piece of Basic White cardstock to the back of the card as shown below.

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE THE BASIC CARD

Cardstock or DSP cut at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” and Basic White or light colored cardstock cut at 3 3/4” x 4 3/4”.

Tear & Tape, Scotch tape, bone folder, 3” - 6” of ribbon, and 1 1/2” circle punch or other circle punch to punch out a notch on the cardstock. You will also need a paper hole punch or a stapler with staples to use for attaching the ribbon pull. You will also need a paper trimmer.

HOW TO MAKE THE BASIC PULL& SLIDE CARD
Score the cardstock along the 8 1/2” side at 4” and 8”. Turn the cardstock so the 8” score line is toward the left side of the trimmer at the 1 1/4” mark. Position the cutting blade at 3/4” and cut down to the 4 3/4” mark. Move the cardstock to the 3 3/4” mark and repeat the cutting process from 3/4” to 4 3/4”. You can fold the card stock along the score lines. See the photo above.

Now take the Basic White cardstock and place the 4 3/4” side along the top of the trimmer at the 2” mark. Cut until just passed the 3 1/2” mark. The cardstock will almost be cut into two pieces.

Next take the punch and line it up between the two cut lines on the card base. Punch a partial circle to form a notch.

You card base should resemble the photo above.

Line up the largest section of the Basic White cardstock with the notched end of the card base. Now move the Basic White cardstock to allow the narrowest end to thread through the cut lines of the cardbase. Use small pieces of tape to attach the bottom ends of the Basic White cardstock back together.

Place Tear & Tape along the inside short end of the card base and along the 1/2” tab made by scoring at the card base at the 8” mark.

Remove the protective covering from the tape.

Fold the card stock over and press down to adhere.

Fold the remaining tab upward and seal.

Your card is ready to be embellished. To made it easier for the recipient to pull out the sliding mechanism attach the ribbon in one of two ways: 1. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the center of the pull out mechanism about 1/4” - 1/2” from the end and thread the ribbon through (see the snail and the heart cards), or 2. staple the ribbon in place as I did on the berry card.
