GOING BEYOND THE PRETTY CARD FRONT - FEATURING THE INKED & TILED STAMP SET

Hi Stampers!

Today I have cards to share with you that definitely focus on the card front, but add a little extra something inside the card, and also feature a matching envelope. None of the ideas are new or ground breaking, but sometimes a little review of ideas and techniques can rejuvenate the creative spirit we all possess. Another way to get those creative juices flowing is to look for card design inspiration. One of my favorite sources for card inspiration is the Stampin’ Up!®️ Catalogs. For today’s cards I looked at sample cards on page 94 of the current Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The cards were created using products from the Inked Botanicals Suite - the Inked & Tiled stamp set, and the Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper (DSP). Let’s take a look at my cards:

The above cards are the same layout, and were inspired by the top left card on page 94 of the annual catalog. I like the images stamped directly on the DSP and I like the Crushed Curry - Lost Lagoon color combo. I think the Lost Lagoon also pairs well with Calypso Coral.

NOTE - Use the sponge dauber and Lost Lagoon ink to put a bit of ink along the sides of the DSP and the focal panel.

* Card base - Basic White (thick) 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”

* Mat - Calypso Coral cut with second largest Deckled Rectangles Dies

* Focal panel - Calypso Coral pattern cut with 3rd largest Deckled Rectangles Dies (save remaining DSP for envelope)

* Timeworn Type 3-D embossing folder

* Scraps of Calypso Coral and Basic White for greeting

* Ink - Calypso Coral

* Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments

* Basic White Envelope 

* Adhesive and dimensionals 

NOTE - For focal panel: die cut, then stamp images, and finally emboss with embossing folder.

It doesn’t take long to do a little extra stamping inside cards and adding a little something to the envelope. These simple things really add a lot of “Wow!” to cards. I hope you try going beyond the pretty card front. Adding just a little something extra is an easy way to step up your card making, and it is fun!
