BADGER BESTIES BIRTHDAY - MAKING A JOY FOLD CARD

 Hi Stampers!

If you have followed my blog or myYou Tube channel for any length of time you know I enjoy cute critter images. Today’s project is a Joy Fold Card created using the BADGER BESTIES stamp set. The badger images in this set are adorable and perfect for kid cards (or cards for anyone). Here is the card I made:

Here is the inside of the card

And here is the stamp set

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Card base - Coastal Cabana cut at 8 1/4” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”.
* Smaller card base - Basic White cut at 8 1/2” x 2 3/4”.
* DSP - 6” x 6” Brights - Bermuda Bay: two pieces, one cut at 5 1/4” x 4” and one cut at 4” x 2 1/2”.
* Basic White cardstock for Badger images - scraps
* Coastal Cabana cardstock - scrap, for die cutting.
* Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay; Stampin’ Blends - Basic Black (light).
* Playful Alphabet Dies.
* Scissors to fussy cut the badger images.
* Silicone Craft Sheet for Reverse Stamping
* Adhesive and dimensionals.
* The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the stamp set, PARTY PUFFINS.

ASSEMBLY
* Cut and fold both card bases.
* Adhere the DSP to the main card base.
* Stamp the badger images (top left and bottom right images on stamp set cover), the with Memento Tuxedo Black on Basic White cardstock.
* Use the Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamp the badger image (bottom right on stamp set cover) on the silicone craft sheet. Place a scrap of Basic White over the stamped image and rub gently to transfer the image to the cardstock. (Reverse Stamping Technique)
* Fussy cut the three badger images.
* Die cut the #  and the 1 with the Playful Alphabet dies.
* Position the Basic White card so that the fold is to the right. Stamp Happy Birthday with Bermuda Bay in the upper right quadrant of the card front. Use dimensionals to attach the badger the left side of the card base. Use liquid glue to adhere the # and the 1 under the Happy Birthday.
* Inside the small card on the left side stamp another greeting. On the right side adhere the remaining two badgers.
* Put adhesive on the back side of the small card center and adhere it to the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4” side of the card.
* Close the front of the small card over the short side of the card base. The card is finished!

JOY FOLD CARDS

Joy Fold Cards are easy to make and a fun twist on the classic greeting card. The size of the smaller card can be adjusted to fit different sized images or sentiments. You can orient the card differently as well, for even more creative options. Below is a portrait version of a Joy Fold Card.

CREATE HOLIDAY CARDS FROM TIDINGS OF CHRISTMAS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER SCRAPS

 Hi Stampers!

Once again my scrap bin is overflowing, so time to use those scraps to create some cards. Today’s cards are made using scraps from the TIDINGS OF CHRISTMAS DSP found in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Let’s take a look at the cards.

For the cards I chose greetings from various stamp sets. I used some of my favorite patterns from this DSP collection and some of my favorite card layouts. These layouts are perfect for using up scraps.

WONDERFUL YEAR CARD

The CHRISTMAS TIDINGS DSP comes as 48 sheets of 6” x 6” paper as opposed to 12 sheets of 12” x 12” inch paper. I really do not prefer one size over the other, and feel each size has pros and cons. For me, one of the down sides of 6” x 6” DSP is I end up with a lot of 2” x 6” scraps. This particular layout helps me use up those pieces.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Basic White (thick) card base cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”, and scrap for greeting.
* Evening Evergreen cardstock for mat - 5 1/4” x 4”, and scrap for greeting mat.
* Three strips of DSP 5” x 1’ each.
* Ink - Evening Evergreen
* Layering Circles Dies -to cut a 2 5/8” circle mat for greeting, and a 2 3/8” circle for the greeting.
* Three Matte Decorative Dots - Evening Evergreen.
* Adhesive; dimensionals for greeting.
* Greeting - from the HOLLY JOLLY WISHES stamp set. (Mini Catalog)

SEASON’S GREETINGS CARD

This is another card layout that helps use up those 2” x 6” scraps I tend to collect.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Evening Evergreen card base cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”.
* Soft Succulent cardstock cut at 5” x 4” (This is the size cardstock I used, and I am fine with the larger borders at the top and bottom of the card. I meant to cut the cardstock at 5 1/4” x 4”.)
* Four rectangles from three different designs of DSP at 2 1/2” x 2”. Select I design and cut two rectangles from it - these will make up the diamond pattern in the center of the card. Cut each rectangle diagonally into two right triangles.
* Basic White cardstock for  greeting - about 3 1/2” x 2 1/4” - this piece will be die cut.
* Ink - Evening Evergreen.
* Stitched Rectangles Dies - 3 1/8” x @ 1 7/8”.
* Three Matte Decorative Dots - Evening Evergreen.
* Adhesive; dimensionals for greeting.
* Greeting is from MERRY SNOWFLAKES stamp set. (Mini Catalog)

PEACE & JOY CARD

This layout also uses the 2” x 6” scraps, but each strip is trimmed to 1 7/8” in width.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD
* Card base - Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand cut at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”.
* Soft Succulent cardstock  for mat cut at 5 1/4” x 4” plus a scrap for die cutting.
* Scrap of Basic White for greeting.
* Two pieces of DSP cut at 3” x 1 7/8” and two more of a different design cut at 2” x 1 7/8”.
* Ink - Soft Succulent
* Tasteful Labels Dies and Christmas Trimmings Dies - leaves stamp, and die cut 3.
* Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack - Crumb Cake @ 12 inches.
* Adhesive; dimensionals for greeting, glue dots for leaves die cuts and twine.
* Stamp sets - TIDINGS & TRIMMINGS for leaves images and GREAT TIDINGS for greeting.

These are the cards I made from some scraps. I still have quite a few scraps, but these cards did help whittle down my “scrap collection” a bit. I hope you give these card layouts a try. Now, for some STAMPIN’ UP! news.

TIDINGS & TRIMMINGS - HANG YOUR STOCKINGS WITH FLAIR; A TINSEL TIME TUESDAY POST

Hi, Stampers!

Thank you for checking in for another edition of TINSEL TIME TUESDAY! Today’s card design features embossing and die cutting. So grab your Stamp & Emboss Machine (die cutting machine), and let’s make this card!

I used the TIDINGS AND TRIMMINGS stamp set to create two versions of today’s card. The minute I saw the stocking images in the stamp set I knew I wanted to hang those stockings from a mantle! Here are the cards I created:

Why did I create two versions of the card?  I was thrilled with the first version. I loved the mantle decor, I loved the embossed stockings, I loved the brick background! I was soooo proud of the card! I showed it to my husband. He said the card was okay, but wanted to know why I put the stockings against a brick wall instead of over a fireplace! I explained I was just creating the “idea” of stockings hung on the mantle over a fireplace. He said, “Okay,” and looked at me with that “if you say so,” look. You know what I HAD to do. Yes, I HAD to recreate the card, and include the fireplace. That is why there are two versions of the card. By the way, my husband really likes the fireplace version.

Let’s take a look at items I used to create both versions of the card:

HANG YOUR STOCKINGS WITH FLAIR VIDEO TUTORIAL

NOTE: In the videoI forgot to mention cleaning the embossing folder after inking and embossing. Simply run water over the embossing folder, use a cloth or paper towel to wipe away any stubborn ink, and rinse. Pat dry with a towel or paper towel. I left my embossing folder open to air dry for a bit before putting it away.

That is all for today. Thank you for joining me for TINSEL TIME TUESDAY! Until next time…
