GILDED AUTUMN GOODNESS
Cards for Fall
It is August and still summer. Usually the temperature hovers around the low to mid nineties, the humidity is about 99%, and the dew point is higher than I care to think about. In other words the normal weather this time of year is hazy, hot, and humid! This year has been a bit different. We have had the hot and humid, but not much of the hazy. This week the weather has been beautiful! It’s a rare treat to open windows and enjoy fresh air and pleasant breezes in August! Today felt more like a sunny September day! I decided it was a great day to make a few fall cards.
This is a double Z-fold card I made using the Autumn Goodness stamp set and Autumn Wheelbarrow dies. The card folds flat and fits into an A-2 sized envelope. I am happy with the card, but it was a bit labor intensive. I plan to make another version of this card with a similar look, but not quite so involved.
This card was inspired by fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Carole Parsons. Check out her blog HERE. The pattern on the focal piece is called herring bone. I learned this pattern technique some years back, but the person who taught me the pattern used 1/2” strips of DSP as opposed to 1/4” strips. The person also used liquid glue to hold the paper pieces in place. Carol suggests using adhesive sheets! Brilliant! Now, I love this technique!!!
For this card I used an Early Espresso card base and gold foil mats. The DSP scraps are from the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up!®️ August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. The leaves are from the Banner Year stamp set, also in the mini catalog. I stamped them with Cajun Craze ink and fussy cut them.
In the next week or so I will post instructions for both the Double Z-Fold card, and the Herring Bone Technique. For now I am heading outside to enjoy this pleasant weather - while it lasts!
Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
