Around the Corner Frame Card

Today my baby sister, Keli, is having surgery on her elbow. Of course I want to make a card for her. I immediately thought of the Back on Your Feet stamp set! You can find it on page 92 of the Stampin’ Up! ®️ 2020-21 Annual Catalog. 

I chose the sloth image for this card, and I thought the image would look great on a panel with a frame around it. Several days ago I saw a card made by Cindy Brambaugh of Cindy Lee Bee Designs, where she used scraps to make a frame for the image on her card. She called her card a Scrap Strip Framed Card. Some years ago I made a card using the technique, and it was referred to as an Around the Corner Frame Card.

To make the card

Cut a Crumb Cake card base at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”; 6 x 6 DSP - Brights Collection, Gorgeous Grape 2 matching pieces cut at 1” x 3” and 2 more matching pieces cut at 1” x 4 1/4”; a piece of Whisper White cut at 5 1/4” x 4”, and a piece of Whisper White that is about 4” x 3” - the sloth image will be stamped and die cut from this piece.

Adhere the DSP strips to the 5 1/4”  x 4” Whisper White cardstock as shown on the photo.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the sloth image, and the word “sigh” on the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock. Die cut the image with the Stitched Rectangle die that measures 3 5/8” x 2 1/4”.

Color the sloth image. I used Soft Suede (light and dark), Crumb Cake (light and dark),  Gray Granite (dark), Granny Apple Green (light and dark), Pool Party (light) Stampin’ Blends, and I used Wink of Stella on the sloth’s cast.

I put dimensionals on the focal image and centered it on the card! That is all there is to it, a cute around the corner frame card that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!
