The Stampin’ Up!®️ January - June 2022 Mini Catalog is live, Sale-A-Bration is under way, and all the “new” is very exciting! Sometime I get so wrapped up in the new, I lose sight of the great items found in the Annual Catalog. So, I thought today I would share cards made with stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Another thing today’s cards have in common is they are all framed window cards. Let’s take a look!

Window cards (sometimes called Peek-a-boo Cards) are easy to create, and give your creations that little special something. You can create window cards without a frame using most any die you like. If you create a framed window card layering dies (dies of the same shape of varying sizes) work well for creating frames. You can mix and match your dies for frames as long as the die used to cut the window fits nicely inside the larger die. (For example, see my Wildly Adorable Baby card.) There are no real rules for window card frames. For me, in most cases, for frames I select the die two sizes larger than the die I use to cut the window. Do I always follow the two sizes larger method? Of course not! But…I find it is a method that works consistently.  I demonstrate how to create a framed window card in the video below.

TO THE MOON CARD

The framed window for this card was created using the Layering Circles Dies.

* Night of Navy card base

* Designer Series Paper (DSP) 5 1/4” x 4” - Abstract Beauty (new mini catalog)

* Basic White cardstock for inside card

* Scrap of Basic White cardstock to stamp and die cut the moon image and the greeting

* Scrap of Night of Navy to die cut mask

* Ink - Night of Navy

* Brushed Metallic Dots (carry over from previous mini catalog)

* Layering Circles dies (largest and die two sizes smaller for window and to die cut moon) and the small banner die from Tasteful Labels Dies

* Adhesive and dimensionals

NOTE - For the greeting - the greeting stamp reads - love you to the moon and back. Mask off the “to the moon and back.” Ink the stamp, remove the mask, die cut the “love you” using the banner die. Clean the stamp well, stamp on scrap paper a few times to dry off the stamp and make sure all the ink is off. Now, mask the “love you,” ink the stamp, remove the mask and stamp the remainder of the greeting on the inside panel under the moon image - about 3/4ish down the page.

FOUR CARD LAYOUTS TO HELP YOU USE YOUR DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

Today I am sharing four card layouts that feature Designer Series Paper. If you have a stack of DSP or even some larger scraps, these cards are a great way to put that stack to use. For today’s cards I used the HAND-PENNED DSP and the HAND-PENNED PETALS stamp set. Both items can be found in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ 2021-2022 ANNUAL CATALOG.

Below are the supply lists and basic instructions for each card.

SUPLIES FOR THIS CARD

* Highland Heather card base

* Basic White cardstock cut at 3 1/4” x 5 1/4”

* DSP - 2 pieces cut at 1”x 5 1/4”

* Inks - Highland Heather, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Memento Tuxedo Black

* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals

ASSEMBLY

* Stamp the image and the greeting on Basic White cardstock.

* Adhere the two strips of DSP to each side of the card front. The goal is to make the DSP plus the focal panel the equivalent of a 5 1/4” x 4” card layer. 

* Put dimensionals on the backside of the focal panel and center the focal panel between the two strips of DSP.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:

* Pale Papaya card base

* Basic White cardstock 5” x 2 3/4”

* DSP - 5” x 1 1/2”

* Inks - Pale Papaya, Mint Macaron, Memento Tuxedo Black, and a Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write marker

* Pale Papaya sheer ribbon - 2 pieces; 6” and 10”.

* Adhesive of choice

* Happy Birthday greeting from the Happy Thoughts stamp set 

ASSEMBLY

* Stamp the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then stamp the colors and the greeting.

* Adhere the focal panel to the DSP overlapping the focal image over the DSP. The goal is to make the piece measure 5” x 3 3/4”.

* Put a bit of adhesive on the back of the piece at the top and the bottom. Attached one end of the 6”piece of ribbon to the back side of the piece and bring it down the front and press the bottom of the ribbon into the adhesive on the back. 

* Adhere the focal piece to the card base. 

* Thread the 10” piece of ribbon under the strip of ribbon on the card. Tie a bow, and trim the ends.

 SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:

* Misty Moonlight card base

* Basic White cardstock cut at 3 /4” x 1 1/4” and Misty Moonlight cardstock cut at 4” x 1 1/2”

* DSP cut at 5” x 3 3/4”

* Inks - Misty Moonlight and Garden Green

* Adhesive of choice

* Greeting is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set

ASSEMBLY:

* Stamp the greeting with the Misty Moonlight ink and stamp the image on the Basic White cardstock. *Adhere this piece to the Misty Moonlight mat. 

* Adhere the DSP to the card front. 

* Adhere he greeting just a tad over an inch from the top of the card.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:

* Basic White card base plus a piece of Basic White cardstock cut at 2 1/2” x 1”

* Blushing Bride cardstock - 1 piece at 5 1/4” x 4” and 3 strips cut at 1” x 5”, plus a piece cut at 2 3/4” x 1 1/4”.

* DSP - 1 piece 5” x 3 3/4 and 3 pieces cut at 4 3/4” x 3/4”

* Ink - Blushing Bride

* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals 

* Greeting is from Happy Thoughts 

ASSEMBLY:

* Stamp the greeting on the Basic White cardstock with the Blushing Bride ink, and adhere it to the Blushing Bride May.

* Adhere the 5” x 3 3/4” DSP to the Blushing Bride layer, and adhere this to the cardbase.

* Adhere each strip of DSP to a strip of Blushing Bride cardstock and put dimensionals on the back.

* Center these three strips on the DSP/cardstock layer. 

* Adhere the greeting to the card centered about 1 1/4” from the top of the card.

Not only do these card layouts help use up DSP, I made these four cards in about 45 minutes, so they are perfect projects for busy summer days. I hope you will give them a try. That’s it for today. Thank you so much for stopping by.

A CARD LAYOUT WITH OPTIONS & THE STAMPIN’ UP!®️ 2021-2023 IN COLORS

Hi Stampers, 

Today’s cards feature the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2023 In Colors, Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen, and Soft Succulent. I used the In Color cardstock, DSP, and ink on all of the cards. Some of the cards are embellished with the 2021-2023 Gems. Other items available in all the new In Colors include, ink refills, Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin’ Blends, and very pretty open weave ribbon. 

2021- 2023 IN COLOR CARDSTOCK

POLISHED PINK, PALE PAPAYA, FRESH FREESIA, EVENING EVERGREEN, SOFT SUCCULENT

Here is a look at the 2021 - 2023 IN COLOR DSP.  The package contains 40 sheets - you get 4 each of 2 double-sided designs in 5 colors.

Here are the cards I made with the In Color cardstock and the In Color DSP.

The basic card layout is a card base, a long rectangular piece of DSP on a cardstock mat, and a greeting. Die cut (or fussy cut) images and a few gems finish off the card. Change the length, width, or both to your liking. The placement of the matted DSP can also be adjusted more toward the center, just below the center, or just above it. The placement of the greeting is also flexible. That is what I like about this layout - lots of options!

Let’s take a look at each card individually.

POLISHED PINK:

This card is a CASE from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-22 Annual Catalog on page 21. I used different cardstock and different DSP. I also used an extra flower, and different gems.

SUPPLIES:

Stamp Set - Timeless Tropical plus he coordinating In the Tropics Dies

Card Base - Polished Pink 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”

DSP - Polished Pink cut at 4 3/4” x 1 1/2” matted on a piece of Basic White cut at 4 3/4” x 1 3/4”

For the Greeting - Basic White cut at 2 1/4” x 1 1/4”

Scrap of Old Olive cardstock, and scrap of Basic White cardstock

Inks - Polished Pink and Old Olive

Embellishments - 2021-2023 In Color Gems

FRESH FREESIA:

This card’s DSP layer is the same with as the previous card but I changed the length so that it runs the entire with of card.

Stamp Set - Pansy Patch and the coordinating Pansy Dies

Card Base - Fresh Freesia 11” x 4 1/4” scored and folded at 5 1/2”

DSP- Fresh Freesia 1 1/2” x 5 1/2” matted on a piece of Basic White that is 1 3/4” x 5 1/2”

For the Greeting -  Basic White 2 1/2” x 1 1/4”

Inks - Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Pale Papaya

PALE PAPAYA:

For this card I made the DSP panel a bit narrower. The image is one larger die cut, as opposed to several smaller ones.

EVENING EVERGREEN:

I paired Evening Evergreen with Crumb Cake to create this card. I stamped two of the feathers on Crumb Cake. For the third feather I used the “Reverse Stamping Technique.” See my 15 January 2021 post for instructions. I fussy cut the feathers as there are no dies for this image.

SOFT SUCCULENT:

To get multiple colors on the palm trees I used Stampin’ Write Markers ( Soft Succulent & Early Espresso) to ink my stamp. Once the image was stamped I used two more Stampin’ Write Markers (Soft Suede & Just Jade) to fill in white spaces and to add depth.

I really like all 5 new In Colors! They are fresh and can stand on their own or look great together. These new colors also work well with the 45 other Stampin’ Up! colors! I know you are going to love working with these great colors - the inks, the ink refills, the Stampin’ Write Markers, the Blends, the cardstock, the DSP, the gems, and the ribbon!  Perfect coordination!
