The Stampin’ Up!®️ January - June 2022 Mini Catalog is live, Sale-A-Bration is under way, and all the “new” is very exciting! Sometime I get so wrapped up in the new, I lose sight of the great items found in the Annual Catalog. So, I thought today I would share cards made with stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Another thing today’s cards have in common is they are all framed window cards. Let’s take a look!

Window cards (sometimes called Peek-a-boo Cards) are easy to create, and give your creations that little special something. You can create window cards without a frame using most any die you like. If you create a framed window card layering dies (dies of the same shape of varying sizes) work well for creating frames. You can mix and match your dies for frames as long as the die used to cut the window fits nicely inside the larger die. (For example, see my Wildly Adorable Baby card.) There are no real rules for window card frames. For me, in most cases, for frames I select the die two sizes larger than the die I use to cut the window. Do I always follow the two sizes larger method? Of course not! But…I find it is a method that works consistently.  I demonstrate how to create a framed window card in the video below.

TO THE MOON CARD

The framed window for this card was created using the Layering Circles Dies.

NOTE - For the greeting - the greeting stamp reads - love you to the moon and back. Mask off the “to the moon and back.” Ink the stamp, remove the mask, die cut the “love you” using the banner die. Clean the stamp well, stamp on scrap paper a few times to dry off the stamp and make sure all the ink is off. Now, mask the “love you,” ink the stamp, remove the mask and stamp the remainder of the greeting on the inside panel under the moon image - about 3/4ish down the page.

CREATE INTERESTING BACKGROUNDS USING STAMPIN’ BLENDS + ALCOHOL

 Hi Stampers!

Are you looking for an interesting background technique for your cards? Grab some Stampin’ Blends, a bit of isopropyl alcohol, and some vellum cardstock. That is all it takes to make a great background piece for your cards! Here are some cards I created using this technique:

Let’s walk through the process. I will focus on the Magenta Madness card.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD

*Magenta Madness card base

* Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” and 3 1/2” x 1 1/2”

* Magenta Madness cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4” and 3 1/4” x 1 1/4”

* Vellum cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”

* Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin’ Blends - Magenta Madness, Melon Mambo, Polished Pink, and Blackberry Bliss

* Matte Black Dots - 3

* Adhesive of choice; to adhere vellum to cardstock adhesive sheet or multipurpose glue and a piece of sponge

* Other - Alcohol, Stampin’ Spritzer and / Or a Water Painter (or paint brush), and small container for alcohol

I have used 91%, 70%,and 50% isopropyl alcohol and achieved good results with each. To apply the alcohol you can fill a Stampin’ Spritzer with alcohol, put alcohol in a Water Painter or pour a bit of alcohol in a small container (I re-purposed a lid from a bottle of fabric softener), and use the Water Painter or a paint brush to apply the alcohol. It does not take much alcohol to create the effect. If using a Water Painter or paint brush remember to clean the brush after use.

The dark Stampin’ Blends work better for this techniques then the light ones. I cut my vellum a little larger than I want for my card and trim it down.

Scribble on the vellum with the Stampin’ Blends. I prefer to put all my color on the vellum at once, but you can do one color at a time if you like. Make sure to let the ink dry before applying another color.

Use the Stampin’ Spritzer to spray a bit of alcohol onto the colored vellum, or use the Water Painter to apply drops of alcohol to the vellum. The alcohol will begin moving the ink around. Allow the piece to dry, or dry it with a heat tool.

TO FINISH THE CARD:

* Adhere the vellum piece to the 5” x 3 3/4” piece of Magenta Madness cardstock using an adhesive sheet or multipurpose glue. Trim piece to 5” x 3 1/4. (I stead of Magenta Madness you can use Basic White. I found the Magenta Madness brought out the colors better.)

* Adhere this piece to the Basic Black cardstock

* Adhere this piece to the card base

* On the small piece of Magenta Madness stamp the greeting (the Happy Birthday is from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set) Adhere this to the Basic Black mat, ad adhere this to the center of the card.

* Add the Matte Black Dots

DAISY BIRTHDAY

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD

* Daisy Lane stamp set and the medium Daisy Punch, and the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set for the greeting

* Daffodil Delight card base, one piece of Daffodil Delight cut at 3 1/2” x 1 1/2”

* Basic White cardstock (adhere to back of vellum), one piece cut at 3 1/4” x 1 1/4” for greeting, larger scrap for 3 Daisy shapes and flower stem

* Pale Papaya cut at 5” x 3 3/4”

Once I started making these backgrounds I just kept making more! I created two. Christmas cards using two more of the backgrounds I made. I used the Merry Snowflakes stamp set for the greeting on these cards. The snowflake was die cut using the Stitched Snowflakes Dies. Here are the cards:

SEASON’S GREETINGS WITH GOLD SHIMMER VELLUM

For this card I used Evening Evergreen and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends (dark) to create the background, then I covered it with a piece of Gold Shimmer Vellum.

* Evening Evergreen card base plus a piece of Evening Evergreen that is about 4” x 2” for the greeting - this will be die cut using the 3 3/4” x 1 5/8” Stitched Rectangles Die

* Simply Elegant Trim (gold) about 20”

* Shaded Spruce card base and piece of Shaded Spruce cardbase cut at 3 3/8” x 2”

* Basic White cardstock that will be cut down to cut at 5 x 3 3/4” to back the vellum and one piece about 3 1/2” x 2 1/ 4 “ for the greeting. This will be die cut with the Stitched Rectangles Die that measures 3 1/4” x 1 7/8”

* Gold 6” x 6” Metallic Specialty Paper cut at 5 1/4” x 4” - cut the two snowflakes from the center of this piece

* Wonderful Gems - clear with gold flecks - 1

* Inks - Versa Mark and gold embossing powder; Stampin’ Blends - Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, and Shaded Spruce (dark)

* Multipurpose glue

These cards are what I call “letter sized cards,” because they will fit in a letter sized envelope! One card features an ice cream cone, another - a popsicles, and the third features snow cones! SWEET ICE CREAM - COLORFUL CARDS AND TIPS FOR USING THE ICE CREAM CONE BUILDER PUNCH

Summertime is here, and time for some yummy frozen treats! This is also the perfect time to create cards using the SWEET ICE CREAM stamp set, and the ICE CREAM CONE BUILDER punch! 

Some of today’s cards are “slim line” cards. There are different measurements for slim line cards. The measurements I use may be a bit different from others, but with a little adjustments the card designs will work just fine on other slim line cards. For mailing I use a #10 (business size) envelope. I purchase the envelopes that do not have the security linings (blue, black, or Gray designs lining the envelopes).

Let’s take a look at the cards:

ICE CREAM CARDS

POPSICLE CARDS

ASSEMBLY

* On the Basic White focal panel stamp the popsicles, add the detail, sticks, and drop. Next stamp the background dots with Daffodil Delight ink. Go over the popsicles and the drops with Wink of Stella.

* Stamp the greeting on the small piece of Basic White with Daffodil Delight ink. Mat it on the Daffodil Delight mat. 

* Adhere the focal panel to the card base more toward the left side of the card. Use dimensionals and attach the greeting to the card between the first and second popsicle images.

* Fold the baker’s twine in half. Tie a bow. Trim the ends, and attach to the card with a glue dot.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:

* Granny Apple Green card base, Basic White focal panel

* Gorgeous Grape mat - 8 3/4” x 2 3/4”

* Basic White scraps for popsicles and greeting and small scrap of Granny Apple Green.

* About 8” of Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon

* Inks - Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pue, Cinnamon Cider

* Layering Circles Dies

* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals

ASSEMBLY

* Stamp each of the popsicles and the greeting.

* Fussy cut the popsicles and die cut the greeting and Granny Apple Green mat with the layering circle dies (1 1/8” diameter circle and 1 1/2” scalloped circle).

* Stamp the popsicle sticks on the focal panel. Adhere the popsicles with dimensionals. Stamp the drips.

* Adhere the greeting pieces together and attach to the focal panel with dimensionals 

* Cut off about 3 1/3” of the ribbon and attach each end to the back of the focal panel with adhesive or tape. Use the remaining ribbon and tie it in a knot around the taped ribbon. Trim the ends.

* Adhere the focal panel to the Gorgeous Grape cardstock.

* Adhere the focal panel to the card base.

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD:

* Bermuda Bay card base

* Basic White focal panel plus scrap for greeting and a piece that is 1 1/2” x 5” for ice cream scoops

* Inks - Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Polished Pink, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede

* Stitched Rectangle Dies (3 1/4 x 1 1/4”)

* White baker’s twine - about 40 inches.

* Adhesive of choice, Dimensionals

ASSEMBLY

* Stamp the greeting with Bermuda Bay ink on a scrap of Basic White cardstock. Cut out with the Stitched Rectangles Die.

* Stamp the ice scream scoops in a line on Basic White cardstock with Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, and Polished Pink inks. Punch out the images.

* Stamp the cones on the focal panel with Crumb Cake. Stamp the hash marks on the cones with Soft Suede.

* Adhere the ice cream scoops over the cones.

* Stamp the drips.

* Adhere the greeting with dimensionals between the second and third ice cream cones.

* Wrap the baker’s twine around the card twice and tie in a bow.

* This card base is Bermuda Bay. The ink colors are the same as for the previous card. The cones are punched from Crumb Cake cardstock and adhered to the card.

A-2 CARDS

SUPPLIES FOR THIS CARD

* So Saffron A-2 card base and a Basic White mat

* Focal panel - So Saffron, from Hand-Penned DSP.

* Basic White cardstock for the ice cream scoops and for the greeting.

* Crumb Cake cardstock for the comes.

* Inks - Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron, and Soft Suede

* Stitched Rectangles Dies - 3 1/4” x 1 1/4”

* Adhesive of choice and dimensionals. 

ASSEMBLY

* Use the card sample for placement.

* The middle ice cream cone is attached with dimensionals.

* Mint Macaron A-2 card base, Basic White mat.

* Focal panel - Mint Macaron from Hand- Penned DSP.

* Basic White cardstock pieces for ice cream scoop and greeting.

* Stamp the greeting 6 times on the focal panel with Pale Papaya ink.

* Stamp the popsicle images with Pale Papaya and Gorgeous Grape inks. Stamp the popsicle sticks with Crumb Cake ink.

* Adhere the sticks to the back of the popsicles. Adhere the Pale Papaya popsicle to the card with adhesive. Adhere the Gorgeous Grape popsicle with dimensionals.

* Use glue dots and attach the baker’s twine with glue dots
