LET’S MAKE A MENORAH - A FUN WAY TO USE PAPER SCRAPS

 Hi Stampers!

Today I am sharing another  Hanukkah card created with A WISH FOR EVERYTHING stamp set, several dies, and scraps of  patterned paper (DSP).  The card front measures 6” x 3 1/2” and will fit in a regular letter sized envelope. Here is a look at the card:

Here is the stamp set:

SUPPLIES:
* Card base Basic White cardstock (thick) cut at 7” x 6” scored at 3 1/2” along he 7” side.
* Basic White cardstock cut at 5 7/8” x 1/2” and a scrap for the greeting.
* Misty Moonlight cardstock (or other color) cut at 6” x 5/8” plus scrap to die cut a mat for greeting.
* Scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock.
* 4-5 small scraps of DSP featuring the same color - in my case, Misty Moonlight.
* Ink - Misty Moonlight (or color that coordinates with your DSP scraps), and Wink of Stella to brush over the Daffodil Delight “flames.”
* Adhesive, glue dots, and dimensionals.
* Dies - Layering Circles Die that cut a 1 7/8” circle, Tasteful Labels Die shown below, Stitched Rectangles Die that cuts a rectangle measuring about 2 3/8” x 1/2”, Christmas Trimmings Dies - 2 leaf die.

ASSEMBLY
* Cut and score the card base.
* Cut the Misty Moonlight cardstock strip and the Basic White strip.
* Using the Stitched Rectangle Die, die cut 9 rectangles from the patterned paper.
* Use the Layering Circles Die to cut a Misty Moonlight circle to mat the greeting.
* Use the TastefulnLabel Fie to cut the shape from Basic White.
* Die cut 5 of the leaf shapes.
* Stamp the greeting in the center of the Tasteful Labels die cut using Misty Moonlight ink (or ink of choice). Mount this on the Misty Moonlight circle.
* Use any “speckle” die you have and stamp the design on the Basic White strip of cardstock. I stamped once, then stamped the second generation of ink to get a lighter color. I continued this process across the piece. Next mat this piece on the strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock.
* Adhere each “candle” on the card front. I stared with the middle one, centered it, then placed four on each side. The center candle is adhered with dimensionals and is positioned to be taller than the other candles.
* Trim the leaf die cut to use as the flames. Place a glue dot on the back of each flame and adhere to the top of each candle. I went over the flames with Wink of Stella.
* Put dimensionals on the back of the layered strip, but avoid placing one on the area that will cover the center candle as it is attached with dimensionals.
* Position the strip over the bottoms of the candles.
* Place Adhesive or glue dots down the center of the back of the greeting piece, and adhere it to the center candle.

This card helps use up scraps, and shines a light on some great dies. Why not give this cards a try?

That is all for today. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time…

* Stitched Triangles Dies - two equal lateral triangles: the largest one and the third largest one.
* Layering Circles Dies or Circle Punch - the circle needs to measure about 2 1/4” in diameter.
* Adhesive, dimensionals, and glue dots.

ASSEMBLY

* Cut the cardstock for the card base and score the cardstock. Cut the pieces of DSP - first cut 1/2” off the 6”x 6” piece. Cut two 2” x 1/2” pieces from this.
* Die cut or punch the Basic White circle?
* Use the two Stitched Triangles Dies to cut two triangles from the Silver Foil. (See below.)

* Place the Silver Foil on the cutting plate of your die cut machine.
* Arrange the two triangle dies on top of the foil sheet with the smaller one inside the larger one, center it as best you can. Hold the dies in place with low tack tape or sticky notes.
* Place another cutting plate on top of the dies, and run this through the die cut machine.
* Repeat the process.
* You now have two triangles with open centers.

* To form the Star of David, place one triangle with a single point at the top. Position the second triangle wit the two points at the top, slip behind the first triangle, then slip it’s single point under the bottom of the first triangle. (See photo above.)
* Use glue dots to attach the two triangles.

* Stamp the greeting in Pacific Point centered on the Basic White die cut circle. Stamp the sentiment for the back of the card in Pacific Point on the 5 1/4” x 2” piece of Basic White cardstock.
* Adhere the DSP to the card front.
* Line up the greeting piece behind the star and use adhesive or glue dots to hold it in place. Use dimensionals to adhere the star greeting piece to the card front.
* Adhere the two 2” x 1/2” pieces of DSP to the 5 1/4” x 2” piece of Basic white  about 1/4” from the top and 1/4” from the bottom. Adhere this piece to the center of the back side of the card. (See below.)

This card fits inside the Stampin’ Up! Medium size envelope. I hope you give this fun fold a try.

A FESTIVE POST HALLOWEEN

 A FESTIVE POST HALLOWEEN

Hello! Today I have some card ideas to share with you using the Festive Post stamp set. The stamp set can be found on page 63 of the Stampin’ Up! ®️ August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. The stamp set includes images and greetings for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. It, like the Banner Year stamp set, is a great value for all stampers especially for new stampers, as it can be used to create cards for several holidays.

Here is the card I made with Pumpkin Pie DSP.

This is another slightly different version in Granny Apple Green.

And this is one I made using a base of Basic Gray.

The greeting for this card is from the A Wish For Everything stamp set.

For the greeting I used the Stitched Shapes Die, the second smallest circle, and the largest circle die from the Tasteful Lables Dies.

I used the Banners Pick A Punch to flag the ends of the strip of DSP under the greeting.

To make this card you will also need
A Basic Black card base cut at 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
Regals 6x6 DSP - Pumpkin Pie (the design with the dots) Cut at 5 1/4” x 4” and 1 piece at 3/4” x 4”
Smoky Slate cardstock cut ay 4 1/4” x 3”
A small scrap of Basic Black and a small scrap of Smoky Slate
Memento Black Ink

On the 4 1/4” x 3” piece of cardstock stamp the bats image in a random pattern all over the cardstock.
On the scrap of Smoky Slate stamp the “happy” and the “birthday” using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Die cut the sentiment with the Tasteful Labels die.
Die cut the mat for the greeting from the scrap of Basic Black Using the Stitched Shapes circle die.

To assemble the card adhere the 4” x 5 1/4” DSP to the card base. Center the cardstock with the bats stamped on it on, and adhere it to the DSP.
Now adhere the greeting piece to its Basic Black mat.
Use the Banner Pick a Punch to flag both ends of the DSP strip
Center and adhere the greeting to the strip
Using dimensionals attach the greeting piece on the upper hal of the card (refer to photos).
The card is complete!

Here is a video demonstrating how to make this card:

And for this version of the card I used the Granny Apple Green DSP from the Brights collection. I paired it with Soft Seafoam and the Basic Black. The strip under the greeting was cut from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper found on page 163 of the annual catalog. This  glimmer paper is beautiful!

Here is another Halloween card I made using the Festive Post stamp set, the Rainbow Glimmer Paper, and the Word Wishes Dies that coordinate with A Wish for Everything stamp set. The background was made by stamping the small stars image in the stamp set using the Champagne Mist Glimmer Paint.

I hope these cards and Stampin’ Up! products provide you with greatinkspirations.

Until next time...

I FOUND MY MARBLES!

 I FOUND MY MARBLES

SO I MADE A CARD!

The other day I  decided it was time to go through some of the drawers and shelves in my craft room, and see if there were items that could be tossed, given away, repurposed, or perhaps used as opposed to collecting dust!  I ran across a small container of marbles. They reminded me of a background technique I haven’t used in some time. It is called the Rolling Marble Technique. Once upon another lifetime ago I taught preschoolers this very same technique! When I took up card making I was so excited to see a tutorial using the technique for card backgrounds! (The link to this tutorial will be toward the end of this post.) I thought I would share this fun and easy technique with you.

Here is the card I made:

This is what you will need to make this card:

The Banner Year stamp set, found in the Stampin’ Up!®️ August- December 2020 Mini Catalog; and the A Wish for Everything stamp set found in the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

A card base of Pumpkin Pie cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”.                                                   2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”                                                                                   Basic Black  cardstock cut at 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, and another piece that is cut at 3 3/4” x 1”.                             Scraps of Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Whisper White .

Pumpkin Pie ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Basic Gray ink refill.

Dimensionals, Stampin’ Seal, Stitched Shapes Dies - the three largest circles.

4-6 marbles, and a box to contain the marbles. One of Stampin’ Up!’s Full Wide Stamp Cases is a great option (annual catalog page163), but a plastic container With a lid will work. If neither is available a shoe box will work! Line the bottom of the shoe box with wax paper or foil to prevent the cardboard from absorbing the ink. I find when using the shoebox there is no need for the lid. Just keep tilting the box one way, then another to get a design you are happy with.

To make the card begin with creating the background, and stamping images and sentiments.

Put a few drops of the ink refill on the bottom of the box. Drop the marbles inside the box and roll them around, making certain they pass through the ink numerous times.

Place a piece of 5 1/4” x 4” Whisper White cardstock in the bottom of the box. Close the lid and roll the marbles around on the cardstock until you are satisfied with the design. Use tweezers to remove your background piece from the box to help avoid inky fingers.

On the remaining piece of 5 1/4” x 4” Whisper White stamp the sentiment for the inside (Wishing You A Trick-Or- Treating....). On the scrap piece of Whisper White stamp the bat from Banner Year stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black. Then stamp the happy and the Halloween from Wishes for everything in Pumpkin Pie, and the bat image from Banner Year in the Tuxedo Black.

Use the three largest circle dies from Stitched Shapes Dies to die cut the circles from the Whisper White, Basic Black, and Pumpkin Pie cardstock scraps.

To assemble the card use the Stampin’ Seal to adhere the whisper White panel with the stamped sentiment to the inside of the card base. Adhere the Rolling Marble panel to the Basic Black cardstock. Place the Basic Black strip of cardstock about 1 1/2” from the top of the panel. Adhere this piece to the card front. Now adhere the Whisper White circle with the stamped image to the Basic Black circle, and the adhere those to the Pumpkin Pie circle. Put 4-5 dimensionals  on the back side of this piece, and position the focal piece over the Basic Black strip. There you have it! A cute Halloween card using a fun background technique.

In the opening paragraph of this post I promised to share the link to a tutorial for this technique. The tutorial is located on the Splitcoast Stampers web site (splitcoaststampers.com). Click on tutorials, then go to page 68, or type in Rolling Marble Background in the search box. I tried to provide a direct link to the page, but the link took me to another tutorial. I apologize for not being able to directly link you to the tutorial.

Here is my video for this card.

TASTEFUL TOUCHES FOR SUMMERTIME CARD MAKING

TASTEFUL TOUCHES
FOR SUMMERTIME CARDS

Outside my window everything is quiet and still. The leaves on the tres are not moving; a very rare occurrence as I live on top of a hill! We almost always have a breeze. The squirrels, rabbits, deer, and other woodland creatures that usually frolic in my yard are nowhere to be found, and there is absolutely no activity at the bird feeders - another extremely rare phenomenon!!! Omens of impending doom? Nope! Just July in the Ohio River Valley. Along with the oppressive heat we have high humidity! Usually by now we are experiencing the 3H’s - hazy, hot, and humid. No hazy today - just the hot and humid! The perfect weather for staying inside and making a card or two!

I decided to keep things simple today, and let designer series paper (DSP)provide color contrast and texture! Here is my card.

See how the DSP creates the illusion of texture! I love it! No embossing folder, no embossing paste, just DSP!

For this card I used two stamp sets. TASTEFUL TOUCHES for the image, and A WISH FOR EVERYTHING for the greeting. Both stamps sets can be found in the Stampin’ Up! 2020-21Annual Catalog.

I started with a Basic Black card base. I cut a piece of silver foil sheet at 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”. The DSP is from the In Good Taste DSP, and measures 4” x 5 1/4”.

I randomly stamped the feather image onto the DSP with Smoky Slate ink. The greeting is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I layered the DSP on top of the foil sheet, and attached that panel to the card base. I added a few metallic pearls (silver), to finish the card. A textured look on cards is just that easy! I hope this card provides you with your own greatinkspirations!

Now for a refreshing glass of iced tea!

Until next time...
