USE YOUR SCRAPS - CREATING CARDS WITH STRIPS OF SCRAP CARDSTOCK

Hi Stampers!

I was sitting in my craft room just looking around at a few spaces that needed some attention. One of those spaces was a box where I keep smaller pieces of cardstock, only the box could not be seen. The cardstock spilling out totally concealed the existence of the box. So, I decided the time had come to do something about all that scrap cardstock. I selected some of the pieces and cut them into 1/4” strips. Next, I looked at my pile of strips for a while. It didn’t take long before a few card ideas came to mind. Here are the results:

CREATING CARDS WITH CARDSTOCK SCRAPS

Below each card photo I will list the supplies I chose to use to make my cards. To recreate the sample cards use any cardstock colors, sentiments, dies, etc you like. Remember the purpose of these card ideas is to  help reduce cardstock scraps collections.

NO HOLIDAY THEMED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER? NO PROBLEM! A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

Hi Stampers,

No Holiday themed paper for Christmas cards? No problem! If you have stamps, inks, and paper (and I know you do), you can create your own designer series paper (DSP)!!! Simply take some Basic White cardstock, select your stamp and ink, and start stamping. Before you know it you will have created some great DIY DSP to use! Here is a look at cards I made using my DIY DSP:

TIPS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE
It is very easy to stamp your own DSP. There really are no rules to follow, but I have found there are a few things to consider that will improve the creative experience:

* Decide if you want to stamp a panel for one card or stamp an entire piece of cardstock to use for several cards.
* Consider using medium sized or larger images if planning to stamp an entire sheet of cardstock as using smaller images will take longer and become tiresome- but it can be done!
* Consider selecting stamped images that require little or no coloring (solid images, two-step stamping images, etc).
* Stamp images off the edges of the cardstock for a natural pattern look.
* Whether you stamp images in a pattern or randomly, or if you are stamping one images repeatedly, or using several images, decide on a general plan of attack. I tend to start in the middle of the cardstock and work outward.
* When stamping a card panel, cut the cardstock larger than the size panel you need, then cut it down to the required size. You can shift your trimming to give you the best piece for your card.
* Beware of ink build up on the stamp or ink that gets on the acrylic block (or your fingers). Stray ink can be a headache, and make a big “oops!” on your  DIY DSP. Most of the time there are ways to overcome that “oops!” Sometimes it can be trimmed away; other times it can be covered with a sentiment panel, gems, or ribbon!
* WARNING - this technique can be addictive!😁
