THREE EASY EASEL CARDS - FAST & FUN!

Hi Stampers!

Have you ever made an easel card? What is an easel card? Basically, it is a top fold card base with a score line across the center of the card front.  Inside the card there is a “stopper” made from stacked cardstock strips or other items. The card front can be pushed up past the stopper, and can be displayed as an easel.
Today we’ll look at three versions of an easel card. The card base is identical for two versions, the dimensions for the third are different, but the process is the same. Let’s take a look at the sample cards:

EASY EASEL CARDS

There you gave it, three different ways to make an easel card. There are other options to try as well. For example, you could cut the cardstock at 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” and score along the 8 1/2” side at 2 1/8” x 4 1/4”. To add a full panel cut the cardstock at 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”, measurements for the inside panel will be the same. Of course, you can make the square mini easel card any size you like as long as it’s square. Use the full panel or don’t. It’s up to you. Once you get the hang of easel cards you will find there are countless options and ways to make every easel card your very own special creation.

That is all for today! Be sure to check in next week when I begin my Stamp Happy Holidays series for 2025! This series will run through mid December, featuring cards and projects totally adaptable for autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s - whatever you celebrate!
Until next time . . .

FUN SIZED CARDS FULL OF CHEERFUL CHRISTMAS GREETINGS - A STAMP HAPPY HOLIDAYS POST

Hi Stampers,

We have all heard old sayings like; bigger is not always better, and good things come in small packages. Today I thought we would take a look cards that prove both these adages. That is right, today’s cards are fun size cards - smaller versions of familiar card styles. Let’s take a look!

Yes, I pulled out my much loved JOLLY WORDS stamp set to create these cards. But page down to see the same card styles made using the CHRISTMAS CLASSICS stamp set. To me the JOLLY WORDS stamp set is the perfect mix of whimsy and nostalgia! Look at those cards; they are mini, but mighty.  I find taking a break from A-2 cards gives me new perspectives. I enjoy the challenge of creating interesting designs on a smaller canvas, so to speak.

As you might have guessed the Santa with his sleigh card is a mini slimline card. The ‘Tis the Season Card is a 4 1/4” square card as opposed to the rectangular A-2 card. The joy card is a mini easel card. The mini slimline card will fit nicely inside a letter sized envelope. I use A-2 envelopes (Stampin! Up!®️ medium envelopes) for the square card and the mini easel card. The fit just fine inside, and cost less to mail than cards in square envelopes.

SIT STAY RELAX & MAKE A MINI EASEL CARD

Hi Stampers!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Today is the first day I’ve been in my craft room in almost two weeks!
What kept me from my favorite room in the whole house? Well, it all started with a bout of seasonal allergies which triggered something called bronchial spasms (bronchospasms)! This malady involves a lot of coughing! Let’s just say bronchial spasms are no fun, none at all!!! I am feeling much better now, and am thrilled to be back in my craft room creating again!

Today’s cards feature the SIT STAY RELAX stamp set. This is a host set and can be obtained with STAMPIN’ REWARDS.  All orders of $150 or more earn STAMPIN’ REWARDS. The stamp set is found in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ 2022-2023 ANNUAL CATALOG that premiers Tuesday 3 May! For more information on STAMPIN’ REWARDS look in current catalogs under Host & Join (at the back of the catalogs) or log on to my Stampin’ Up Online Store HERE and click on HOST.

Let’s take a look at the cards:

I call these cards MINI EASEL CARDS. The design is simply a resizing of a classic fun fold. These cards measure 4 1/4” square, and they do fit in a Stampin’ Up! Medium Envelope (A-2 size).

Here is a look at the cards in their easel position.

STAY SIT RELAX & CREATE A MINI EASEL CARD VIDEO TUTORIAL

CUTTING DIMENSIONS FOR MINI EASEL CARDS CARD BASE AND LAYERS:

* Card base - 4 1/4” x 8 1/2” scored at 2” and 4 1/4”. Fold and score on the 4 1/4” score line.
* Piece of cardstock same color as card base cut at 4 1/4” square.
* Background layer - 4” x 4”.
* Basic White or light colored cardstock cut at 4” square for inside card.
* Piece of cardstock, DSP, etc cut at 1” x 4” and scored at 1/2”. Place adhesive on one side of the score line, then press the two side together. This piece serves as the stopper to display the card in easel position.

Creating each of my sample cards requires a little masking. I created my masks by stamping the images on scraps of printer paper, and then fussy cut them. Why are my masks colored? Many times I use scrap printer paper to stamp and color images to get an idea of how they will look on the card. I find this saves me from tossing out a lot of Basic White cardstock.
