AN EASY SCRAP FRIENDLY & VERSATILE CARD LAYOUT FEATURING SALE-A-BRATION DSP

 Hi Stampers!

Today I am sharing cards made using scraps of Designer Series Papers from the SALE-A-BRATION BROCHURE. For the cards I used a very simple, yet versatile card layout. The layout lends itself to being “tweaked” and works well for both portrait and landscape orientations. The second great thing about this layout is it uses smaller scraps of cardstock! Let’s take a look at the cards:

WHAT IS SALE- A-BRATION?

SALE-A-BRATION is Stampin’ Up!’s biggest promotion of the year! Product purchases of $50 or more  earn you choices of free items from the SALE-A-BRATION BROCHURE! THE LAYOUT

The chart shows the portrait and landscape orientations for the card layout. For both options you will need:

* An A-2 cardbase - 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”  OR 11” x 4 1/4”scored and folded at 5 1/2”

* 2 pieces of DSP or cardstock cut at 1 1/4” x 1 1/4” - be aware of directional patterns

* 4 pieces of DSP or cardstock cut at 2 5/8” x 1 1/4” - be aware of directional patterns

* 1 piece of cardstock or DSP cut at 2 5/8” x 1 1/4” for greeting

* Inside panel - Basic White cardstock cut at 5 1/4” x 4”

It is easy to change up the layout by rearranging the pieces into different configurations. Watch the video for ideas on how to vary the layout.

HIPPEST HIPPOS STAMP SET

There are 19 dies on this set. In the photo above only 18 dies are show. I dropped a die in my craft room, and I have yet to locate it’s exact landing spot. I lost the die that cuts out the motor for the boat. In the illustration below it is the gray shape above the boat.

- On the Basic White cardstock for the focal panel stamp the middle hippo. Stamp the image on a piece of masking paper (or other paper for creating a mask such as a sticky note). Cut out the mask, place it over the stamped image. Stamp the same image on each side of the previously stamped image. Stamp the dancing hippo image on the scrap of Basic White cardstock, and stamp the greeting. Use the Stampin’ Blends to color the hippos. Die cut the dancing hippo and the sentiment. Adhere them to the focal panel with dimensionals. Use the Smoky Slate (light) Stampin’ Blend to create shadows under the hippos.

I decided to dust off a few stamp sets and dies I have not used in a while. My sample cards were created using the Daisy Garden background stamp, the Pansy Patch stamp set, and the Brilliant Wings dies. I chose to use black and white paired with bright colors for the color theme. I heat embossed the images. Let’s take a look at the cards.

FOR QUICK & EASY CARDS TRIPLE THE IMAGE

 Hi Stampers!

Are you looking for a stamping technique that is quick & easy, and results in great cards? Well, I have the perfect technique for you! Simply triple a stamped image. That’s right, simply stamp the image 3 times to create am interesting focal panel for your cards. That is all there is to it! It doesn’t get much easier. So… why stamp 3 images as opposed to two or four? Honestly, you can stamp the image as many times as you like, or as many times as there is room for on a card; but the number three connotes universal symbolism. In the Christian faith - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; stages of life - birth, life, death; a person’s being - mind, body, soul; time - past, present, future; in writing / story telling - beginning, middle, ending; and in superstition / idioms - third times the charm. The number 3 is considered good fortune, and it is the first number that allows for the formation of a geometric figure - the triangle! With all that going for it you can see why stamping an image three times will result in great cards!

Let’s take a look at today’s cards:

As you can see, each image is featured three times on the cards’ focal panels. Each card’s images are presented in a slightly different way, meaning there are plentiful options for using the triple image technique!

I have listed the cutting dimensions and supplies used below each card. If you do not have the exact items, no worries. Use what you have! Today’s focus is the technique.

Note - for the pineapple image ink the pineapple with the Crumb Cake, wipe off any ink the got on the pineapple top, and carefully ink the top with Old Olive. Use the blending pen to spread out the ink over the pineapple top. Go over the pine apple fruit area with the So Saffron Stampin’ Blend Marker. It is not easy to see in the photo, but the So Saffron adds that little touch of yellow to that portion of the image.

* Basic White cardstock 10 1/2” x 4”, score at 5 1/4” - slide folded cardstock into the paper trimmerat 1 3/4” with fold along top of trimmer. Cut down to 1 3/4”. Now move cardstock to 2 1/4” and cut to 1 3/4”. Push the 1/2” section created by the cuts and push toward the inside. Adhere this to this inside of the card, but do not adhere the 1/2” piece.

* DSP - Waves of the Ocean,  5 1/4” x 4” - slide into paper trimmer at 1 3/4” with end you want to be the bottom, and cut down 1 3/4”. Slide the paper to the 2 1/4” mark and cut down 1 3/4”; Adhere this piece to the

* One Basic White note card  (7” x 5” scored and folded at 3 1/2” along the 7” side

* Basic Black mat cut at 4 3/4” x 3 1/4” plus small piece for aloha die cut

* Basic White cardstock cut at 4 1/2” x 3” plus scrap to stamp pots

* Inks - Garden Green, Polished Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Mango Melody

* Matte Black Dots - 3

* Adhesive, dimensionals, & adhesive sheet to adhere “aloha”

- Stamp the potted plant 3 times directly onto the note card with Garden Green ink, stamp a pot in Polished Pink, Bermuda Bay, & Mango Melody - fussy cut them ad adhere over stamped Garden Green pots with dimensionals. The shadow under the pots is stamped with an image from the CATCHING BUTTERFLIES stamp set.

- Apply Old Olive ink to top of pineapple stamp, apply Crumb Cake to pineapple.

- Go over Old Olive ink with blender pen to spread ink around

- go over Crumb Cake ink on pineapple with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend

- Stamp “shadow” under pineapple using stamp fromCATCHING BUTTERFLIES set.
