SENTIMENTAL VALUE - CREATING CARDS THAT FOCUS ON SENTIMENTS FEATURING SWEETLY SCRIPTED

Hi Stampers,

If you are new to stamping and have few supplies, or if you are on a budget (aren’t we all) and looking for ways to get more out of your crafting dollars; do I have a tip for you! Get sentimental! That’s right! Go on the search for a great sentiment stamp set or two. Sets can be geared toward one occasion such as birthdays or designed to be used for many different occasions. Some sets contain sentiments designed  to be used on the outside of a card that have a coordinating sentiment for the inside of the card. Sentiments can be paired with most any stamped image or stand alone on a card! Some of my favorite stamps sets are sentiment sets!

So, what are some ways to show off my sentiment stamps? I thought we would explore that today! Let’s take a look at the cards I created for today’s post. I used the Sweetly Scripted stamp set to create my sample cards:

YEAR TO CELEBRATE WITH EASY TO CREATE CARDS

Hi Stampers,

Have you ever seen a stamp set, decided it just did not interest you, but when you  took a second  look you just could not resist it? That is what happened to me with the YEAR TO CELEBRATE stamp set found in the Stampin’ Up! September - December 2023 Mini Catalog. At first I thought, “I do not need another New Year’s stamp set. When I looked again I noticed the other sentiments and really liked the birthday greeting and others. So, of course I had to have it. Today I am sharing three cards I made using the stamp set. These cards were very easy to create and took less than 45 minutes for me to design and create the three cards. Let’s take a look:

ALTERNATIVE PROJECT

If you do not make New Year’s cards, how about giving this New Year’s Treat Box Party Favor a try?

Of course, this treat box party favor can be made for any occasion using any colors, and it is another great way to get more from this (or most any) stamp set. This treat box party favor is the landscape version of the project featured in my previous post Festive & Fun Box Sleeve Card Or Treat Box. Click HERE

To make the New Year’s treat box party favor follow the instructions for the Festive & Fun Box Sleeve Card. Orient your images in a landscape view. For the landscape version the box that slides into the box sleeve is just a bit different than for the portrait version. Here are the cutting and scoring instructions for the box:

* Card stock - 8 1/2” x 3 7/8”
* Score at 1 1/2” on all four sides
* On each short end form tabs by cutting on score lines to next score line, cut each tab in half horizontally and miter on each edge.
* Place adhesive on tabs and adhere to back side of the 1” end tab to form a box.

This box is 1” wide and 5 1/2” long, and will hold mini Hershey bars, Dove candies, Ande’s Mints, etc. Another idea that would be fun for a New Year’s party or even a wedding is to fill it with confetti!

SUPPLIES FOR THE TREAT BOX PARTY FAVOR
* YEAR TO celebrate stamp set
* Card base - Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”
* Box Sleeve - Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 3/4” x 5 1/2”  scored along the 5 3/4” side at 1 1/2”, 2 1/2”,
4”, and 5”.
* Scrap of Basic Black cardstock for focal image
* Box - cardstock - Basic Black, 8 1/2” x 3 7/8”  scored at 1 1/2” on all sides
* Adhesive Backed Glimmer Paper - gold, 4 strips cut at 5 1/2” x 1/4”
* Ink - Versa Mark, gold embossing powder, silver embossing powder
* Rhinestone Basic Jewels - 5
* Strong adhesive such as Tear & Tape or Stampin’ Seal+, Dimensionals

VIDEO PROJECT

SUPPLIES FOR THIS PROJECT
* The supplies for this treat box party favor are the same as for the previous project. Just switch out the gold embossing powder for silver and the silver for gold. Then switch out the gold glimmer paper for silver.

REPEATING GREETING - AN EASY TECHNIQUE FOR CREATING FANTASTIC CARDS

 Hi, Stampers!

Today I have a simple technique that puts greetings in the spotlight. It is so easy. Just stamp the greeting repeatedly on a panel or on the card front. Here is a card that demonstrates the technique:

This card might look familiar to you. It is one of the cards I made for my 1May 2021 post on how to make easel cards. The inspiration for the card came from a card on page 26 of the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ 2021-2022 ANNUAL CATALOG.

Here are four more cards I created using the “repeating greeting” technique.

HEY GIRLFRIEND

To create the card below I used the HEY GIRLFRIEND stamp set. This stamp set can be found in the STAMPIN’ UP! JANUARY - JUNE 2021 MINI CATALOG. It is on the Mini Catalog retiring list. The catalog sales period ends 30 June 2021.

This card features  a Polished Pink card base,  the  2021-2023 On Colors 6”x6” DSP in Polished Pink, Polished Pink ink, and a Polished Pink bow! I inked up my stamp with Polished Pink ink and stamped the “hello”. The first “hello” I stamped is actually the second hello on the card panel. I stamped the greeting two more times without re-inking. I moved the stamp from left to right as I stamped down the panel. The greeting at the top is actually the last greeting I stamped. The greeting panel is adhered to the card base with Stamp & Seal. The image of the girl was colored with Stampin’ Blends, and fussy cut. She is adhered to the card with dimensionals.

The next two cards I made using the PARTY PUFFINS stamp set, and plenty of GRANNY APPLE GREEN! The cards have a landscape orientation. The DSP used on the cards is from the Pattern Party DSP, available with STAMPIN’ REWARDS. See pages 170-171 in the catalog for details, or in the online store select Paper & Packaging > Patterned Paper.

PARTY PUFFINS

For the greetings on these cards I inked the stamp with Granny Apple Green ink, stamped, stamped again, and repeated. On the “Make a Wish” card I stamped the greeting off the panel on the ends.

The cute puffins are holding balloons stamped with an image from the HEY BIRTHDAY CHICK stamp set.

The final sample card is a masculine card made with the SAILING HOME stamp set. The DSP is from the  IN GOOD TASTE collection from the Annual Catalog.

SAILING HOME

I am so happy the IN GOOD TASTE DSP carried over to the new catalog! The collection is full of classic patterns of stone, fabrics, tile, and wood. It is a perfect DSP for masculine cards, and has patterns perfect for feminine cards as well.

The card base for this card is Night of Navy. The DSP has a Basic White mat. The lighthouse was stamped in Night of Navy on Basic White, and cut out with the Smooth Sailing Dies.  I stamped the greeting with the same process I used for the Hey Girlfriend card. I wrapped Night Of Navy twine (Mini Catalog) around the greeting panel and tied it in a small bow.

Any greeting can be used for the repeating greeting technique, and as you can see, the technique is very flexible. So ink up a greeting and start repeating!

That’s it for today! Until next time...
Stamp Happy!

Kim

Remember, now through 14 June individual and workshop orders of $250 or more (shipping and tax not included) will earn and additional $25 in Stampin’ Rewards.

HAPPY THOUGHTS STAMP SET PREVIEW

Hi Stampers !

We are less than two weeks away from the premier of the Stampin’ Up!®️ January - June 2021 Mini Catalog!  Today’s post gives you a look at the Happy Thoughts stamp set from this fabulous catalog! In my opinion the Happy Thoughts stamp set is a must have for stampers of all skill levels! It features four greeting we use on cards every day, plus three sentiments for the inside of cards!

For today’s cards I am pairing the Happy Thoughts stamp set with the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper.  You can get this DSP for free with a $50 purchase of Stampin’ Up! products. (Excluding tax and shipping.)

The greetings (Happy Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, Thinking of You) in the Happy Thoughts stamp set coordinate with four punches featured in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog; the Tailored Tag Punch, the Story Label Punch, the Everyday Label Punch, and the Timeless Label Punch.

For today’s cards I used the Tailored Tag Punch and the Story Label Punch.

To help me remember what punches coordinate with this stamp set I made an insert for the stamp case.

Here is a little FYI - the greetings from the Happy Thoughts stamp set also fit on the retired Pretty Label Punch. (The pink sticker on the punch just let’s me know it is retired.)

And now the cards! For all four cards I used a regular A2 cardbase.  A piece of DSP cut at 5” x 3 3/4”, and a piece of coordinating DSP that measures 4 1/4” x 3 1/4” - cut in half diagonally.

The sentiments for the first two cards are stamped and punched out using the Tailored Tag Punch.

The sentiment for this card was punched out using the Story Label Punch.

For the last card I used the retired Pretty Label Punch. As you can see the greeting fits on the label perfectly. If this punch is in your collection, you will want to add the Happy Thoughts stamp set to your collection as well!

Here is a video I made showing the Happy Thoughts stamp set, the Flower and Field DSP, and the four cards I made.

The Happy Thoughts stamp set, along with all the other wonderful products in the Stampin’ Up! January - June 2021 Mini Catalog, will be available for order on Tuesday, 5 January 2021. The Flower and Field DSP can be earned with a $50 purchase of Stampin’ Up! products (excluding shipping and tax) 5 January - 28 February 2021.

That is all for today. Until next time...
Stamp Happy!
